Sometimes Nashville comes back home to the mountains.

In January of last year, Makenzie Phipps sold out Wayfarer. Every seat. A packed little listening room, people gathered close to the stage, and that big voice filling every corner.

Since then, she’s stepped into an even busier chapter playing Nashville rooms like The Bluebird Cafe, Ole Red on Broadway and Margaritaville, with more than 50 performances on her 2026 schedule.

And she’s still making new music.

This year brought “Won’t Be Here Forever,” followed by her newest release, “Devil Ain’t in Hell” featuring Aubrey Nicole.

Now she’s coming back to our little room.

That’s one of my favorite things about Wayfarer. You don’t always have to travel to Nashville to sit close enough to an artist to hear the stories between the songs.

Sometimes, they come back to us.

There’s something in these mountains that remembers.

The songs, the stories, the food, and the spirit of Appalachia all carry the roots of the Scots and Irish who came before us. That’s why we celebrate Highlands Friday.
