Greetings all!
Today, I am looking back with immense gratitude as we just celebrated 17 incredible years of The Independent.
When first opening the doors in 2009, I wanted to create a cool neighborhood gathering place, but I never could have imagined just how deeply this neighborhood would weave itself into my life. We have had the joy of hosting hundreds of live music shows, unforgettable parties, vital community fundraisers, and celebrations of every kind. I have made amazing friends, and have seen many of you go out and start your own successful ventures with great success. I am humbled if my path inspired you in any way.
As you know, the road hasn't always been smooth. Together we have weathered many literal and figurative storms, navigated tragedies, and faced difficult times that tested our resilience. But every single time we stumbled, this community was there to lift us up. It is entirely because of the unwavering support of our friends, neighbors, and loyal patrons that we have always ended up on our feet.
To my extraordinary staff, past and present: Thank you for your hard work, your passion, and for making The Independent feel like home to everyone who walks through the door. You are the heartbeat of this business.
To this community: It has been an honor to serve you in this capacity for nearly two decades. Thank you for choosing us for your casual weeknight pints, your milestone celebrations, and everything in between! If you haven't stopped in in a while, we've made many improvements, so get yourself back here soon! We have some exciting plans ahead!
