What a welcome home for our Eastern Iowa Honor Flight veterans tonight!
After a full day in Washington, D.C., visiting the memorials built in their honor, our veterans returned home to a packed airport filled with family, friends, fellow veterans, and supporters waving flags and cheering them on.
Welcome home, veterans. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and everything you have given our country. You earned every cheer.
Are you a veteran who has never been on an Honor Flight? You may be eligible for the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.
Veterans from the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, Reserves, and National Guard are encouraged to apply. You do not have to have served in combat. Veterans who served during wartime or peacetime, overseas or stateside, are eligible to apply. The trip to Washington, D.C. is provided at no cost to the veteran.
Eastern Iowa Honor Flight serves veterans throughout Eastern Iowa, including Tama, Marshall, Poweshiek, Benton, Iowa, Linn, Johnson and surrounding counties. Veterans from outside the primary service area may also apply if they are able to fly from The Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids.
If you or a veteran you know has never taken an Honor Flight and would like more information or help with the application, contact Charlie Betz at the Tama American Legion.
