Peaks and Pints is a brew-fueled lodge in the heart of Basecamp Proctor in Northend Tacoma. It’s a craft beer and cider taproom where 21 and older brew nerds can wave their geek flags and keep waving them all the way home with filled growlers, a bottle shop with a broad and deep selection of craft beer in bottles and cans, and a eatery with tasty sandwiches, salads and appetizers.

Somebody left the campfire unattended.

“Campfire Confidential” stacks roast beef, bacon, Campfire Sauce, cheddar, jalapeño, and crispy onions on French bread, with Roasted Red Pepper & Gouda Bisque adding another log to the fire. Chuckanut Fest Bier arrives with toasted, bready malt and a crisp lager finish, cozying up to beef, bacon, cheddar, and roasted pepper while clearing the smoke after every creamy spoonful.

Fresh-hop season has officially reached the five-glass stage.

Saturday’s Peaks and Pints Fresh Hop Flight starts with fresh Tettnang slipping into Level's Oktoberfest, moves through Chainline’s fresh-hop Pilsner, then heads straight into the harvest with Single Hill, Matchless and
Hopworks.

The hops have left the farms. We have taster glasses waiting.

Three cheeses walk into a bar. Bacon is already there.

"Three Cheeses & a Bacon" stacks Gouda, provolone, Parmesan, bacon, and rosemary mayo on French bread, with Alder Wood Smoked Salmon Chowder bringing even more smoky, creamy decadence alongside. WeldWerks Czech Pilsner plays designated palate cleaner, its crackery malt, herbal hop snap, lively carbonation, and crisp finish cutting through the cheese and bacon before clearing the decks for another alder-smoked spoonful.

We begin at the communal table, wander into an Oregon hop field, encounter a beloved tiny raccoon, ride a horse through the clouds and somehow finish in New Zealand hop graduate school.
