43 years ago, a door opened and it never really stopped leading somewhere new. 🍻✨
In 1983, McMenamins threw open the doors of its first pub at Barley Mill. What followed wasn’t a straight line. It was a winding, beer-filled, music-soaked, art-covered journey through buildings that all had their own second chances waiting.
Like Elks Temple, a place that spent decades in limbo. Plans came and went in the late ‘80s. Then nearly 30 years of silence, exploration, graffiti, curiosity, and a whole lot of “what is this place?” energy. Until 2017, when the work began to bring it back… and in 2019, it opened its doors again.
That spirit and that idea that places and stories deserve another chapter is what this anniversary is all about.
On June 13th, we celebrate 43 years with:
🍻 All-day happy hour on 1983 Lager pints
🥔 All-day happy hour on Cajun tots
🎟️ A just-for-fun Passport stamp
🧭 The “Search for the Barley Brew” hunt across early McMenamins spots
Visit, collect, explore, and raise a glass to everything that came before and everything still to come.
Because the story’s never really been about one place. It’s been about all of them.
