Thank you, Barn Stars! 🐐
Today we hosted a paint night at Barn Stars Animal Rescue, and it was everything we hoped for.
A full house of guests painting on the farm
Money raised to help care for the rescue's alpacas, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, and ducks
Lots of laughter, creativity, and a few very photogenic farm animals
Barn Stars is a forever home for farm animals who needed one, and every ticket went toward keeping that going. A huge thank you to Greg and Danelle for opening up their farm to us, and to everyone who came out to support them.
We love using art to bring people together for causes that matter. If your organization would like to host a paint night fundraiser, send us a message!

New monthly paint night in Monroe, WA 🎨

Starting Tuesday, November 17 at 6:00 PM, Sweet Emma's Creative Studio & Art Bar is hosting a sip and paint night (paint and sip, paint night, art class) at Route 2 Taproom in Monroe, Washington, every 3rd Tuesday of the month.

Our first project is a Giving Thanks piece, a perfect Thanksgiving craft to hang at home or give as a gift. Looking for things to do in Monroe or Snohomish County? Every month brings a new painting class and a new project: canvas painting, custom wood decor and wood signs, plaster painting, seasonal crafts, and more.

It's a great date night idea, girls' night out, or fun night out with friends, and one of the best things to do near Monroe, Sultan, Snohomish, and Duvall. We provide:

Sip and Paint: The Quiet Night Out Your Mind Has Been Asking For
Date night usually means dinner, a movie, and a lot of staring at a screen or at each other across a loud table. If you want a calm activity that gets you talking, laughing, and relaxing, a sip and paint night might be the best fit.
What is a sip and paint?
A sip and paint is a relaxed, beginner-friendly art night. You pick a design, grab a brush, and paint while enjoying a glass of w**e, a c***r, or a hot tea. No experience is needed and nobody is grading you. It works for date nights, girls' nights, solo evenings, and friend groups.
Why painting calms your nerves
You don't have to be an artist to feel the effect. Here's what's going on:
It slows you down. Mixing colors and making one brushstroke at a time pulls your attention into the present moment, a lot like meditation, but with paint.
It may lower stress. A well-known Drexel University study found that 45 minutes of art-making lowered cortisol (the stress hormone) in most participants, whether or not they had any art skill.
It gives your racing thoughts a job. Your brain can't fully spiral while it's deciding where the blue goes next.
It's a small win. Finishing something with your own hands feels good, and that matters when work and life feel endless.
Repetitive, gentle movement is soothing. Soft strokes and steady hands help the body settle, which is why many people feel their shoulders drop an hour in.
Painting isn't a replacement for medical or mental health care, but as a calming habit it's hard to beat.
The power of a no-phone evening
Most of us are never fully off. Notifications, scrolling, and "just checking one thing" keep the mind in constant low-level alert. A phone-free evening interrupts that.
Your attention comes back. Without pings, you can stay with one thing for more than two minutes.
Conversation gets better. On a date, you actually look at each other, laugh at each other's wonky trees, and talk about something other than your to-do list.
Your mind gets a reset. Time without input lets your brain process the day instead of just absorbing more.
You'll sleep and feel better afterward. Many people leave feeling lighter, with a quiet kind of happy.
Tip: put the phones in a basket or bag when you sit down. You'll forget about them faster than you think.
Why it makes a great date night
No pressure to perform. Everyone is a beginner together.
You make something you can take home, and it becomes a memory on your wall.
It's low-key but still feels special.
It works for first dates, anniversaries, and couples who've been together for 20 years.
It's easy on the budget compared to a big night out.

Mommy & Me Classes Near Me in Sultan, WA: Art Classes for Toddlers, Babies and Kids
Searching for mommy and me classes near me? Or things to do with toddlers this weekend? Sweet Emma's Creative Studio & Art Bar, at 419 Main St in Sultan, offers mommy and me activities your whole family will love. Our mommy and me art class, mommy and me painting class, and mommy and me craft class are parent and child classes where you create together and leave with something you'll keep forever.
We also welcome dads, grandparents, and every caregiver — so whether you search for mommy and me, daddy and me, mom and me, parent and me, or grown-up and me, you're welcome here.
Footprints on the Beach: Ages 0-7
This is our most popular class among toddler and me classes, and it's also a wonderful baby and me class and a favorite among mom and baby classes. You'll paint a beach scene together on a big canvas: blue ocean waves and soft sand, with plenty of room left for the star of the piece. Older kids can lead and paint the water and shoreline themselves, while babies enjoy a sensory experience with mom or dad's help.
Then comes the best part. Your little one adds their own footprint right onto the sand, as if they were walking along the shore. It's a tiny footprint that shows exactly how small they were.
If you're looking for toddler classes near me, classes for 2 year olds, classes for 3 year olds, or a preschool art class, this one is made for them. It's $10 for one big canvas.
The Connected Canvas: Two Halves, One Picture
You and your child each paint your own canvas, and when the two are put together, one complete picture appears. Mom (or Dad) paints their side, your little artist paints theirs, and together they make a single piece. Two connected canvases are $12, for any age.
More Ways to Paint Together
Looking for a mommy and me playdate? Bring a friend and make it a group outing. Planning a mommy and me paint party? We can host it at the studio, or bring a mobile paint party to you. Need mother daughter date ideas? Book a mother daughter paint night and paint side by side. And if you want something special, our Mother's Day mommy and me activities make a thoughtful gift of time together.
Kids Activities Near Me
We're proud to be a go-to for kids activities near me and toddler activities across the Eastside and Snohomish County. Looking for mommy and me classes in Snohomish County? We're here. Searching for things to do with kids in Monroe, Sultan, or Snohomish? You're a short drive from a fun afternoon of painting.
Why Families Love Us
No art experience needed, we guide you through it.
It's screen-free time together.
You go home with a finished keepsake from this exact stage.
It's affordable, because we believe art should be available to everyone.
Bookings get priority and walk-ins are welcome. Grab your little one and come make something you'll treasure.

09/30/2026

On these long days while we are closed for remodeling, it's quiet. I’ve been sitting with my thoughts, and I wanted to share something real about why this place exists:
I'm not just trying to build a business. I'm trying to build my own village.
I came to this country from Iran with about a thousand dollars. I came here alone. No family waiting for me. No established circle. No one who already knew me or my story.
I had to start from the beginning. And I did.
I worked hard for years. I built my life piece by piece. I built my credit. I bought a home. I moved to Gold Bar. I built a family. I built a life I now realize I built from the ground up.
I met my husband years later. He's not Iranian, and his family isn't nearby either. So what we have today wasn't something I arrived with. It's something we built.
And now I'm building a business the same way. Without an established customer base. Without a built-in circle. And I'm still working hard every day to make it happen.
I wake up around 5 in the morning. I go to my regular job to support my family. I'm a mom. I have a little one to take care of, a child who needs me. And when that workday ends, my day still isn't over.
I come home to my family, and then I work on Sweet Emma.
I'm building my dream in whatever hours are left. Sometimes it's late at night. Sometimes I'm exhausted. Sometimes I wonder how I'm going to keep doing all of this.
But I keep going. Because I didn't come this far by waiting for life to become easy.
There's something people don't always realize about starting a small business. Having people around you matters. In a SCORE survey of startup owners, 66.2% said support from family and friends helped keep them motivated during difficult periods in their first year.
And that makes me think about something much bigger than business. Life can be incredibly hard when you don't have anyone.
When you don't have a parent nearby to call. When there aren't grandparents around to help. When there aren't cousins growing up alongside your child. When you don't have someone to call at the end of a long day and say, "I need you."
When you're exhausted, overwhelmed, or just having a terrible day, and there's no village waiting for you.
You just keep going. Keep figuring it out. Keep carrying it.
And sometimes the hardest part isn't even the work. It's feeling like you're carrying everything alone.
I know what that feels like. And that's one of the reasons Sweet Emma means so much more to me than just having a business.
I want this place to be filled with people. Not just kids. Families, parents, friends, anyone who wants to create, to try something new, to spend an afternoon or an evening, and feel like they belong.
I want it to be a place where connections can happen naturally. A place where someone who doesn't have a village yet can begin building one.
Because I know what it's like to come here without one. I know what it's like to start over. I know what it's like to be a mom and keep going even when you're tired, because there is a little person depending on you.
And I know what it's like to build something from nothing.
I came here without a village. I built a life anyway.
And now I'm trying to build the village too. For Emma. For me. And for anyone who walks through that door looking for a place to belong.
And maybe that's also why the concept of Sweet Emma can be a little complicated for people to understand at first. It's not a traditional art studio. It's not just a kids' place, and it's not just an event space.
But in my mind, the concept is actually very simple. It's a place for people.
A place where you can come create something, celebrate a birthday, have a date night, bring your kids, try something you've never done before, or simply come and spend time with people.
I don't want expensive prices to make it impossible for a family to have a birthday here. I don't want so many restrictions that people are afraid to ask what we actually do.
Sometimes I worry that because people don't immediately understand what this place is, they look through the window and think, "What's going on in there?" And maybe they don't walk in because they don't understand it.
But the concept is actually simple.
Come in. Make art. Bring your friends. Bring your kids. Bring your village. Or come by yourself and maybe find your people here.
You don't have to know exactly what we're doing before you walk through the door. You just have to walk in.
Because maybe that's how a village starts.
Someone walks through a door. They sit down. They meet someone. They come back. And eventually, they know people there.
That's what I'm trying to build. Not just a business. Not just an art studio. Not just a kids' place.
A place for people. A place to create. A place to connect. A place to belong.
A place where you can come with your village—or start building one.
