Happy National Golf Course Month! ⛳️🎉

We spend a lot of time on the course—but how much do you actually know about the game? 👀

To celebrate, we rounded up a few fun golf facts that might just surprise you! ⬇️

⛳ Why 18 holes? The Old Course at St Andrews originally had 22 holes. In 1764, several were combined to create an 18-hole round—and eventually 18 became the standard.

🌎 More than 160 MILLION people participate in golf worldwide!

🏌️ Nearly 47 million juniors are playing golf!

🏖️ Golfers didn’t always use tees! Before the wooden golf tee, golfers made little raised mounds out of wet sand to hold their ball. Dr. George Grant patented his wooden golf tee in 1899.

😂 Nobody actually knows for sure where the term “mulligan” came from. One of the most widely accepted stories traces it to a golfer named David Mulligan in Canada during the 1920s.
