In 1938, Stillwater built a library.

For decades, this building on Sixth Avenue was a place where stories came alive — where kids sat cross-legged in the aisles reading, where the community gathered, and where the love of a good book brought people together.

When we first walked through those doors, the office walls and drop ceilings had buried most of that character. But the bones were still there. The original bookshelves. The arched windows. The story this building has been waiting to tell again.

We bought this abandoned library, and we're turning it into The Bookend Hotel — a boutique hotel experience rooted in the history, architecture, and literary spirit of this incredible building.

The Bookend Hotel was built for pause.

Originally established in 1938 as Stillwater's Public Library, The Bookend has been restored with care — not to recreate the past, but to honor what lasts. The design is timeless. The service is warm and unpretentious. The experience is one you feel in the details: the way a room is lit, the weight of the linens, the quiet that greets you when you arrive.
We exist for the traveler who reads instead of scrolls. For the couple celebrating something that deserves a real setting.
