Yet another great addition to downtown Steubenville! This Festival has the potential to bring hundreds and eventually thousands of people from out of town to discover our great city and businesses.

We’re looking forward to seeing the Steubenville International Film Festival succeed this fall and in the years to come!

Hello! We're Kate and Casey Stapleton, filmmakers and co-founders of the Steubenville International Film Fest (SIFF), which will be held at the Sycamore Center, in Steubenville, Ohio, on Nov. 6th and 7th, 2026. So far, SIFF has received over 250 entries of narrative and documentary films from all over the world. These films are outstanding, featuring internationally respected writers, directors, and actors (including some you’ll recognize). We cannot wait to share them with audiences, and we hope that audience will include you.

🍻 TOASTING HISTORY: STEUBENVILLE’S BREWING PAST
OYO Brewing Company is bringing brewing back to downtown Steubenville! 🍺

If plans stay on track, OYO will open next year at Market & S. Fourth Streets, marking the return of a local brewery after roughly a century — and continuing a brewing tradition that began more than 200 years ago.

Steubenville’s brewing story dates to 1815, when the Steubenville Brewery operated on North Third Street under Andrew Dunlap. By 1817, it offered Strong B**r, Common B**r, Strong Ale, Fine Pale Ale, Porter and Table B**r.

🍺 1819: Alexander Armstrong established another brewery on Water Street near Washington Street. It later became associated with the Basler family, German immigrants who moved the operation to S. High Street.

🏛️ 1852: A new Basler brewery was built at 130 S. High St., in an area now within reconstructed Historic Fort Steuben.

🍻 1860: The City Brewery opened near Adams & S. Ninth Streets under John Butte. Deep rock cellars, reportedly about 100 feet underground, helped keep l***r b**r cold.

🍺 1896: John Buehler purchased and modernized the brewery.

🍻 1907: Buehler introduced bottled Steuben Brew, along with City Brew, Pale American and Select.

⚖️ 1908: Jefferson County voted to go dry, closing 141 saloons — about 80 in Steubenville.

🍺 1912: The brewery reopened as the Steuben Brewing Company.

🚫 1919: Ohio went dry in May. The brewery later produced soft drinks, near-b**r and malt syrup.

🇺🇸 1920: Federal Prohibition took effect nationwide.

📅 1924: Brewery operations ceased.

🏭 1960: The former City Brewery complex became home to Famous Supply.

Now, OYO Brewing Company is poised to write the next chapter in Steubenville’s brewing story — bringing local brewing back downtown and giving us something to toast! 🍻
