Used the microphone icon to Google Armistice Day.

Got Pharmacist's Day, instead. I guess I don't enunciate very well.

Why do I need to prove that I'm me before I pay my bills?

Are strangers calling, to pay my bills?

If so... why aren't you LETTING THEM pay my bills?

Just curious... Can I get the video of anybody pretending to be me, up until the moment when they say that money is owed? I wanna see the look on their face.

Hoping to bring back tap beer, sometime next month. Bud Light, Coors Light, Pabst, and Point Root Beer. Other varieties available if there's enough interest in them.

Ray Wehe won the Sunday drawing, this week, coming home with 775 dollars of your money. Don't bother asking him for a loan... he already spent it.

I've added 100 dollars of my money, to the pot. I did it, because I don't like the rule, that I can't sign up new people, until the pot is under 100 dollars. As of right now, I can sign up a new person, ANYTIME I WANT! You now have the chance to win 100 bucks that you didn't pay for, so, I don't wanna hear any griping about it. I'm buying my way into a rule change. All the people that mention that rule, don't show up for the drawing, anyway.

So stop by and sign up for the Sunday drawing,... anytime you want to.

Well, the tap beer is down for the count. My tapper box is warmer than the room, it's in. Cooler quit on me.

My question to YOU, is... should I bring it back from the dead, or is this area done, with tap beer? I could fit a decent-sized liquor freezer in that spot, and my walk-in cooler would have a LOT more room for the week's stock.

It's up to you, and, sorry to say, it's gonna be a vote. It's not a,... one person, and I keep it, kinda thing. I love my customers... I REALLY do.... my customers are not at fault, but this business kicks my ass, every day. Even down to 5 days a week, I'm able to make ends meet just fine. I just can't get the energy to stay open.

I think anyone without a spouse, to help out, once in a while, burns out pretty quick, in this business.

11/27/2020

Edit: came back negative... I'll be open tomorrow. Taking today off.

Staying closed today, maybe tomorrow, too. Somebody close to me is in quarantine. I wasn't told to quarantine, mind you, but I wouldn't mind taking a day off, so I'll keep you safe and take a day off at the same time. Have a great day, I'll post again when my friend's results come back.

06/03/2020

Update: I waited 3 days to get tested, and the results were negative. Keeping the bar closed through the weekend, because I likely have strep, and again... I'm not in this business to infect you with a virus. ANY virus.

Translation: I was NOT careful enough to stop myself from getting a virus, even if it wasn't Covid-19. (They say they chose the number 19, because that's how many pounds, you'll gain, holed up in your home, and eating everything in sight.) The bartenders are at the highest risk, here. I heard a bar closed because the bartenders wouldn't work.

Smart bartenders.

I WILL NOT PUT somebody else behind my bar, while this is going on. If you see somebody behind my bar, it will be me, for some time. I will assume the ENTIRE risk, to serve my customers, and my bartender is laid off, until that risk is lessened. My customers wanted me to open, and I was happy to. (Kinda needed the money, at that point). But I WILL NOT risk the health and safety of ANYONE that walks through my door.

Big thanks to Bogeys and VFW for helping to alert people... it's not Covid, but it's contagious. And... the risk of TWO upper respiratory viruses would be worse than just one.

Thanks to the TCHD, for calling to chew me out for absolutely NOTHING, (and I apologize for the earful I gave YOU [if that conversation was a competition, then I won it]) but thanks for volunteering the information that getting tested too soon, may give a false negative. That was very useful. People should probably be informed of that. And I stand by what I said... the people I come into close, personal contact with, are also the people I actually LIKE... Why would I want to hurt them? Is it because the hospital charges tens of thousands of dollars for every covid victim they treat, that they're unwilling to share the names of their current victims? Or is it because they've FORGOTTEN the Hippocratic Oath, and they want everybody to die?

To prepare for the coronavirus, you SAVE YOUR GODDAMNED PENNIES! Don't buy anything you won't need for months. And adjust your expectations about what you need. Toilet paper is not as high on the priority list as food. I'd rather crap in the yard, than starve to death.

This being Wisconsin, alcohol needs to be mentioned... If you're self-quarantining, alcohol counts, as a meal. One shot, one glass of wine, one beer. It keeps an alcoholic from dying of detox, and alcohol metabolizes, as pure energy, the way I was taught, 30 years ago, anyway. If the food situation gets REALLY BAD, you can finally say to your spouse, "Sorry, honey..."

*hand over a beer*

"Here's your supper."

Anyway... I haven't looked up how long strep is contagious, but I'm not sick anymore, and I'm open now. Still closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, though.

Original message:

Got a BAD sore throat, this morning, it's one of the 'Rona symptoms, and I NEVER get sore throats.

I'm shutting down for a while. If you've been here recently, I think you know what to do.

One of the reasons this thing spread so far, is because they're required to keep everybody's name a secret.

See... I don't like that.

If you're reading this, you make DAMN sure everybody else does, too. My name is John Costello, I own and operate the Deer Trail Bar, and it's possible that I have the 'Rona virus.

*(4 months later, I STILL haven't had it)*

And I ain't paying your medical bills. You want to stay away from viruses? Don't go to the bar. It's that simple. Peeking your nose in the door, to ask, "Are you taking precautions?" Only begs the question, "Are YOU taking precautions?"

Want to avoid disease? I'll see you when this is over. The Democrats made this political, when they slowed the spread of the disease, by shutting down bars and restaurants, and shaming Republicans into doing the same. It infected more people, by keeping it around, longer. It'd have been over, by the time our (Wisconsin) State Supreme Court reopened my bar, but Democratic politicians made it last until the election. Brilliant (and unprecedented) move, to blame on a new President. And they've been solely blaming the President, which shows us all, that it was solely a political move. Biden claims the he has the fix for the coronavirus, but won't share it, until he's elected. By his own projections, there will be a quarter million people dead of the disease, by the time he loses the election. He'd have a MUCH better chance at the polls, if he could fix this for us, but he'd rather have you die, waiting to vote for him, than tell us how to fix it.

Let me reiterate... in Joe Biden's world,... your vote, is more important to him, than your life is.

My predecessor is Michael Madison. We call him Mick. I named my dog Madison, after him, and his family. We call her Maddy. Mick flies a Trump flag in front of his house, AND an American flag, which sits higher than the Trump flag, as it should, and I salute him for it. I only fly an American flag in front of my place. If I could afford it, I'd have Trump flags EVERYWHERE. Didn't mean for this post to turn political, but the truth is the truth, fake-press-be-DAMNED. I won't stand by and watch another American flag get burned. I won't allow another neighbor of mine to be ridiculed. I've had enough of this s**t.

The coronavirus should've been come and gone in two months. Here we are, 6 months later, infecting people that social distances, and SURVIVED, six months ago. Why did THEY have to get this disease? My own mother will be 82, next month, and she's had asthma for more than 50 years. She's been stir crazy to the point that she's coming to my bar, when customers are here.

I've contacted Nancy Pelosi twice, now... the first time (by email) was after the House voted to impeach my President. I (very politely) asked her to retire.

This last time was by phone. After speaking to one of her assistants, I left a voicemail, stating that I would like to have one of those Trump Impeachment pens, sent to me. My tax dollars paid for it, so I want one. I'd keep in a glass case, over the bar, to show what an idiot Nancy Pelosi, is.

Every politician has a webpage, these days. Even back in the day, you could look up your Senator's phone number, and call them up. OUR voices, need to be heard. Too many politicians are thinking they're the "big man on campus," and nobody's listening to the people that voted them into office.

PLEASE, MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!!! You can email, write a letter, and even call our state senators.

Tammy Baldwin is our Democratic State Senator. If you look up her website, it's entitled, "I want to hear from you." From the website, her DC phone number is, 202-224-5653. Check what votes she's up against, and weigh in, with your opinion.

Ron Johnson is our other Senator. He's a Republican, serves as the chairperson for Homeland Security, and is my FAVORITE candidate to take over Tony Ever's spot, as Governor (unless he's already more advanced than a Wisconsin Governor,... if that's the case... then... I like him for President after President Donald J. Trump's next term. His DC office phone number is 608-240-9646.

We vote for a reason, people... our politicians are supposed to listen to what We say say. WE run this country. Not our politicians. Once we cast our vote, we are NOT helpless, hoping our politicians vote in our favor. They DO NOT take office, thinking they have power over us. We have power over them.

Call your politicians, to fix the problems you see on your tv, and... NEVER take money away from the police. My local police have hassled me all my life, but I can still say they haven't killed anyone that wasn't trying to kill them,... and I've been here since 1976.

One cop kills somebody, and the country goes insane?

DO NOT destroy old statues,... the racist statues belong in a museum. Our history as a country, isn't pristine, but what country's history is as long, and better? Put racist statues in a museum, where people can learn about slavery. I say we turn the Lincoln Memorial into one of those museums.

Try as I may, to keep this FB page away from politics, politics found a way to screw with our lives. This is me, lashing back, and my apologies to those of you that stay non-political. But when the Governor can shut down my business, from that far away, without ever visiting our county, before we had a SINGLE Covid case,... I believe I have the right to bitch about it.

Okay, it's been a few months, opening for third shift people, and I'm not getting much business. I'm giving it up, unless there's a request for me to open early. Give me one or two days notice, and I'll be open as early as 6 am, any day of the week, but until then, I'm going back to getting more sleep.

As always, have fun and drive safe.

Got some new stuff in...

I'm now open at 6 am., Friday and Saturday mornings, so 3rd shift people can have a drink, and maybe get together with their coworkers after a long week.
