Don’t miss Tyke T tonight

Tyke T combined honest lyrics, bold production, and insight garnered from his graduate education to climb the charts without the help of a major-label. The indie artist -- who graduated with an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University -- studied the charts and organized his fan base, storming the Top 50 of four Billboard charts with his sophomore EP, 2017's The Prelude. Born Tyrone Stroble in Smyrna, Tennessee, Tyke's main influences were '90s R&B and New Jack Swing by the likes of Jodeci, Bobby Brown, and Bell Biv Devoe, as well as rap from Master P, Kanye West, Drake, 8Ball & MJG, UGK, and Outkast.

From the infamous North side of Memphis, Mon.E represents a different type of artist than what you have come to expect from Memphis. Drawing inspiration from artists ranging from MC Hammer & Kris Kross to Kanye West & Eminem as well as the rich musical heritage of his hometown, Mon.E displays a versatility not often associated with artists from the Bluff and stage presence that has led to him being regarded as one of the premier performers in the city of Memphis.

Bria D Brown is a Memphis born poet, playwright, and lover of all things Memphis history. Bria received her BA in Communications and Rhetoric Studies from Oglethorpe University in 2012. Through writing and performance, Bria is able to use art as a tool to build social awareness and global citizenship. As a teaching artist, she creates and facilitates workshops using poetry and theatre to explore cultural history. Bria has managed writing and theatre programs at various arts organizations including the Orpheum Theatre Memphis, Playhouse Theatre (Memphis), Hattiloo Theatre (Memphis), and many more. Bria was awarded The 100 Interesting and Influential in Memphis, TN 2017. In 2019, Bria co-wrote and performed in Women's Water: The Emergence of Drought, Flood, and Dance produced by HOMEGROWN Productions where she is co-founder.

We’re showcasing all kinds of artistry this weekend! Get to know one of our featured artist: Najee!

Art has always been a part of my life, from seeing my moms colorful and bold interior designs to my dads custom clothing designs. With a few lessons from my parents I went off to advance my career in visual art, clothing design, hair cutting and personal style. I went to modeling school for a few years and became a professional model coordinator. All of my work is expressive, conceptual, metaphorical and creative. I’m versatile with a focus, but I love to send a political message in an artistic format.
