Poetry Open Mic 3 Year Anniversary Edition
A monthly open mic dedicated to cultivating connectivity and mutual support within the St. Louis poetry community. Hosted by Bobby Stevens & Kyle Brandt-Lubart.
We’ll be holding it down every last Wednesday of the month at The Heavy Anchor (sign up at 7PM/mic at 8PM). Explorers of language, first-time readers, veteran word artists—all are welcome to the stage and in this space. We ask that performers keep their sets to 8 minutes max.
Our definition of what “poetry” is intentionally expansive. We welcome word art in its varied forms, including but not limited to free verse, rhyme, slam, spoken word, short prose, flash fiction, and experimental works. We also prioritize accessibility within the experience of creative exchange. Don’t feel comfortable reading your own work aloud but want to hear it spoken into the space? Ask a host or pal to read on your behalf. We’ll also have an area for sharing written works, as well as info about calls for submission, local reading series and more.
The Heavy Anchor is ADA accessible. The kind folks behind the bar have an extensive selection of NA options in addition to beer, liquor, cocktails, and wine. Pizzas are available for purchase.
