Our French Onion Soup is legit. I grew up on Famous Barr FOS and know where the bar is. (Pardon the pun). No, we don’t bake the Gruyere cheese in a handled ceramic soup bowl so that it drips over the side creating crunchy cheese snacks that you can pick off of the bowl as an extra treat. But we come very close, all things considered, and produce a quality product. Out au jus base is excellent, and we mimic the old Famous Barr format with an excellent crouton made from French bread delivered that morning by Pete’s Italian Bakery. We put a slice of Swiss cheese on the crouton in the bowl and then ladle the soup on top of it. That melts the cheese into the crouton. We top it with grated parm and viola! A legit French Onion Soup at an Irish Pub served in a plastic bowl. Delicious!

We are finally almost thru the "slow spring" that happens every year at the pub since Ballpark Village opened. We used to get a lot of pre and post Cardinal game fans, but that has died down a lot. I guess it makes sense, but it still hurts. Seeing all of those St. Louis Cardinals jerseys was fun, and the players and coaches would come in fairly frequently. The times they are a changin'. But we are still here, doggonit! And we would love to see you.

This weekend is when our "June rush" starts. The kids are back from school and the O'Connell's reunion season begins. It's fun! And we have commercial air conditioners keeping the place nice and cool (and dark) in the hot, hot summers.

So, come on by in the next couple days and see us before the rush begins. Our team is so dang good that even if there is a line to the door we will get you served quickly. Yes, we are that good. So don't be scared of the lines. We have managed them like champs for over fifty years!
