New vines, wine science, and a tiny bug that changed the entire wine industry. 🍇

In this episode of “Uncorked with Ben,” Ben walks through the new grapevine saplings planted at Engine 8 Urban Winery and explains why almost every modern grapevine is actually grafted.

Turns out, a microscopic pest called phylloxera nearly wiped out vineyards around the world — and grafting European grape varieties onto resistant American rootstock became the solution.

Wine is equal parts agriculture, history, chemistry, and patience… and honestly, that’s part of what makes it so interesting.

Two years of growth 🌱🍇

This vine has officially hit its 2-year mark, and yes… we’re proud plant parents over here. Trained, shaped, and growing stronger every season.

And now? It’s getting some company.

We just planted three new vines to catch up and join the lineup. A tiny start now, but every bottle, every vineyard, and every great wine story starts somewhere.

One thing about us… we’ll always romanticize the process. 🍷
