Wine pairing doesn’t have to be complicated. 🍷

You don’t need to know tasting notes, regions, vintages or any other fancy wine words to pick a bottle that works with dinner. A few basic pairings will get you surprisingly far.

Save this little cheat sheet for the next time you’re staring at a wine list thinking, “Okay… now what?”

And remember, these are guidelines, not laws. If you want the white wine with your steak or the red with your fish, we’re certainly not calling the wine police.

The best pairing is still the wine you actually want to drink. 😉

Varietal? Blend? Both delicious, but not the same thing. 🍷

A varietal wine gets its name from the primary grape used to make it, while a blend brings multiple grape varieties together in one wine.

And no, a blend isn’t automatically “lesser” than a varietal. Winemakers blend grapes intentionally to balance things like flavor, aroma, acidity, body and tannins.

Basically: one grape gets top billing vs. a carefully chosen group effort.

Wine vocabulary without the snobbery, because ordering a glass shouldn’t require a sommelier certification.
