Four years ago, we took this picture on the day our family officially took over Beefeaters.
I remember the excitement. The nerves. The pride. And, if I’m being completely truthful, having absolutely no idea just how much this place would come to mean to us.
Four years later, I look at this picture a little differently.
Owning a restaurant isn’t easy. There have been incredibly long days, sleepless nights, tough decisions, mistakes, lessons learned, sacrifices made and plenty of moments when the weight of owning a business felt pretty damn heavy.
But there have also been some incredible moments.
We’ve watched employees grow up, families celebrate milestones, couples celebrate anniversaries, kids celebrate graduations and generations of families continue traditions inside these walls. We’ve met people who started as customers and became friends. And we’ve been reminded over and over again just how special this community is.
Most importantly, we’ve been blessed with an incredible staff. Beefeaters isn’t Beefeaters because of one owner or one family. It is what it is because of the people who walk through those doors every day and work their tails off. Some have been with us since day one, some joined along the way, but every person who has cared about this place and taken pride in what we do has helped build these last four years.
And then there’s this community.
You had plenty of places you could spend your money, celebrate your birthdays, have your date nights, bring your families and recommend to your friends.
You chose us.
That is something I will never take for granted.
Four years ago, Shannon and I took a pretty big leap with our girls beside us. We worked hard, took some chances, learned a lot and poured a whole lot of ourselves into this place.
Today, I’m just grateful.
Grateful for our staff. Grateful for our guests. Grateful for Southern Pines and this entire community. Grateful for everyone who has encouraged us, supported us, challenged us and helped us along the way.
And most of all, grateful for the three people standing beside me in this picture who have shared the sacrifices, the crazy schedules, the stress and the victories that came with chasing this dream.
Four years down.
A lot of hard work behind us.
And hopefully a whole lot of great years still ahead.
