Join us THIS Thursday, June 11, for Jazz Film Night 2026 featuring The Girls in the Band, a powerful documentary about the groundbreaking women of jazz and big band whose stories have too often been left out of music history.
We’re especially excited that the post-film Q&A will feature filmmaker Judy Chaikin and GRAMMY Award-winning jazz vocalist Catherine Russell, whose own family legacy is deeply connected to this history. Russell is the daughter of legendary bandleader and Louis Armstrong musical director Luis Russell and pioneering vocalist, guitarist, and bassist Carline Ray, who performed with the International Sweethearts of Rhythm, Mary Lou Williams, and Sy Oliver.
