It has been wonderful keeping in touch with our customers with BISTRO Grocery, but 2022 is time to let someone else have some FUN at 221 Main Street.

Serious health challenges continue as do aging parent obligations, so to move things along, we’ve made the price very attractive, with partial financing available to a qualified buyer.

‘Fresh’ or Flash Frozen?

Most of our customers have been purchasing our fresh organic salmon and freezing it for a later date, so we thought... hmmm…

Is this the best for our customers, or would flash frozen be better?

“A fresh-caught fish is like a melting ice cube, its quality can not be improved, only maintained.

And, as Jane Brody, nutrition columnist for The New York Times wrote “The freshest seafood is that which has been frozen shortly after harvest and remains that way until cooked”, (unless you are getting it right off the boat for dinner, of course).

Flash freezing is an accelerated process in which fish are frozen immediately after harvested. It uses ultra-low temperatures to freeze fish solid in a matter of minutes or even seconds.

Flash-freezing maintains the “look and feel” of the fish, without the use of artificial preservatives. It also helps fish resist freezer burn, for a much longer shelf life. Flash-freezing locks in the nutrition, texture, and flavor that you would expect from premium wild salmon. In addition, the individual vacuum-packed portions are very convenient.”

Dear Friends,

It has been a delight to be a part of downtown South Boston for the past 18 years.

We have loved the experience, our customers and being a part of so many wonderful memories. Now, we look forward to new opportunities.

It is a perfect time for us and a perfect time for an aspiring restaurateur— with the post-Covid enthusiasm to dine out, Factory Street Brewing Co. just across the street, the Prizery reopening, VIR geared up, hotels filling up and great local and out-of-town support.

We own everything from the carpet up. It’s a turn-key operation and ready for the right person.
