After 13 unforgettable years in Somerville, it is time to share some bittersweet news. Daddy Jones will be closing on December 20th.
❤️We are feeling every emotion at once, but the biggest one is gratitude. ❤️
Thank you for showing up for us through every season. Thank you for the date nights that turned into engagement parties and then first birthdays. Thank you for the “just one drink” nights, the gyro cravings, the holiday parties, and all the moments in between. You filled this place with life.
I have so many of my own memories of Daddy Jones from painting the place with my mom, scrubbing the basement walls with my parents before opening to working the night before the birth of both of our children. The day the Marathon bombings happened I was mopping the bar myself and we weren’t even open on Mondays but all our friends showed up so we could process the scary news together. Working the bar on one of those crazy snow storms while I was six months pregnant so that my staff didn’t have to come in. I got my ass handed to me. Navigating covid (wow). So many awesome people that worked with us over the years.
Daddy Jones began as a little idea one mile from where I grew up and it thrived because of the community. You made this restaurant feel like a home. Shout out to
We couldn’t have done this without all the amazing team members we have had over the years. It is a relief that everyone one of them has opportunities elsewhere.
Closing our doors is not the end of what we built together. It is the end of a chapter that was filled with laughter, hard work, community, and so much heart. We are walking away grateful for every person who pulled up a chair, worked a shift, poured a drink, shared a meal, or simply cheered us on.
Thank you for 13 years of love. Thank you for the warm memories we are blessed to have.
Some excitement for our last few days will include some throw back nights with old staff. Plan on joining us Thurs. Dec. 11- Sun, Dec. 14 + the following week Wed. Dec. 17- Sat. Dec. 20th.
Before you say anything, I think 13 is a lucky number. It has always been my mom’s favorite number and was the # of her house growing up.
