It’s not often that we announce a beer before it is released , but this one is extremely important.
A good friend of ours Bruce Lambert was the recipient of a double lung transplant a few years ago and has once again fallen ill.
Bruce and I met years ago through our love of vinyl records. One time I bought some record from him and for some reason he tossed in a pristine copy of Kenny Rogers “The Gambler” complete with poster.
Let me tell you the kind of person that Bruce is. When Covid hit, the day that the world shut down and what was the the toughest day of our life as business owners having to tell our staff that we had to send them home, Bruce called me to make sure that I was okay. Here was a person that was at the absolute highest risk calling me to make sure that I was okay. I’ll never forget that.
The day that he was going in for his double lung transplant he sent me a text that simply said “The gambler bro”. Dude was cracking me up in what was his absolute weakest moment.
Unfortunately he has fallen ill again, we came up with this beer to help him, his wife Tonya and their beautiful pup Oliver through this difficult time.
As we were planning this whole thing it hit even closer to home as our friend Curt Nethercutt has fallen extremely ill and is in need of an immediate lung transplant.
Curt has shown our family kindness long before we were local business owners and his wife Erin is a lifelong friend. Erin even played a part in getting Krista and I together and if you believe in the butterfly effect, I wouldn’t be typing this if not for that moment.
Introducing “Bruce The Gambler West Coast IPA”. Named after Bruce and since he lives in San Diego due to its climate being optimal for his survival (I still say he says that only because of the insane fishing out there), we had to make it a West Coast IPA.
A portion of proceeds from every sale of this beer will go directly to Bruce and his wife Tonya, and also to Curt Nethercutt and his family.
It will be a couple of weeks until it’s ready, so if you’d like to donate directly to both families please send us a message and we will send you donation links.
Bruce & Curt, we love you both and we have no doubt that both of you will power through all of this and we will all have a toast together at the end.
