Darrell here…
First, I’d like to personally thank all the Americans who apparently did an outstanding job of keeping their crazy relatives, deranged neighbors, and generally unhinged normal people locked safely out of sight while the world came to visit for the FIFA matches. 😂
Seriously though, it’s been incredible watching fans from every corner of the globe bring their traditions, chants, celebrations, and national pride. The TikToks and Reels have been absolute gold. From singing in the streets to friendly rivalries and spontaneous celebrations, it’s a reminder that sports can bring people together in a way few things can.
If you haven’t gone down the FIFA social media rabbit hole yet, do yourself a favor and spend a few minutes searching. The fan videos don’t disappoint.
And while I’ve got your attention, I’d like to extend a personal invitation to any of our international visitors: if you find yourself anywhere near Southeast Missouri, come hang out at Stogies, smoke a cigar, tell us about your home country, and help us solve the world’s problems one cigar at a time. 🌎
In fact, after seeing all this excitement, I’m officially launching a campaign to bring FIFA to Sikeston.
Now before you start asking questions, hear me out…
We’ve got the rodeo grounds.�We’ve got Benton Speedway.�We’ve got plenty of parking.�And we’ve got enough common sense to figure out the rest.
FIFA Sikeston 2038 has a nice ring to it if you ask me.

We support them and ask our friends to help where you in can! This is a great group of folks who donate their time to help kids who have been through it and need a helping hand. Did you know a lot of the kids who get put into foster homes show up with only the clothes on their backs? Everybody in this charity donates their time and nobody receives a salary so it all goes directly to helping the kids!

Ezekiel’s Closet provides free clothing, bedding, hygiene items, diapers, toys, and more to foster families. Now, they have an opportunity to purchase a building that will give them a permanent, stable space to serve even more families in need.

They’re looking for community partners who believe in their mission and want to help make this new home a reality. Every contribution toward the down payment helps strengthen a resource that has impacted countless foster children and families across our region.
