The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux is dedicated to developing, fostering, and promoting programs that benefit abused, neglected, and homeless animals. We support local rescues and pet owners throughout the Ark-La-Tex by providing assistance with veterinary care, food, shelter, and finding loving homes for animals in need.

Help is needed to save this baby’s life!! 💔 BentTree has already been through so much. Now he’s fighting for his life — and he needs YOU.

This sweet boy was born with a broken heart. He has Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA) a congenital heart defect where a blood vessel fails to close after birth, forcing his little heart to struggle every single day just to keep up. He deserves a chance. But that chance is disappearing fast.

We need THREE things urgently:

🚨 TRANSPORT VOLUNTEER #1 — TUESDAY
Dallas, TX ➡️ LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (Baton Rouge, LA)
Must arrive by Tuesday, June 2nd by 12:00 PM
Can you drive all OR even part of the route?

LSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital (Baton Rouge, LA) ➡️ Dallas, TX
Thursday, June 4th after surgery bringing BentTree home 🙏

Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday. We need to raise funds NOW to cover his lifesaving heart surgery.

The Krewe of Barkus and Meoux is proud to offer the Barbara Ann Ruane Scholarship, a $1,500 award supporting students pursuing careers in animal wellness, veterinary medicine, and related fields.

Named in honor of our founder, Barbara Ann Ruane, this scholarship recognizes students who share her passion for animal welfare and dedication to making a difference in the lives of animals. Through this scholarship, we hope to support the next generation of compassionate professionals committed to caring for animals and strengthening our communities.

Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Memorial Day is more than a holiday — it is a day of remembrance, gratitude, and respect for those who gave their lives to protect our freedoms.

As we gather with family, friends, and our beloved pets, let us take a moment to reflect on the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of our fallen heroes and the families who carry their memory forward each day.
