The Lion Sisters
They grew up on a farm in rural New England surrounded by music. They began learning fiddle (Josi) and guitar (Lily) at an early age and soon began creating music together. Josi and Lily work together writing their songs, combining topics they care about as well as stories their imaginations create. Their music is a fresh and contemporary take on their Bluegrass, Country, Celtic and Folk roots, and the lyrics are both playful and meaningful.

As a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a double major in fiddle performance and music therapy, Emily Haviland studied everything from American Roots and its rocky history to how music can alter brain chemistry. Throughout her career, Emily has shared the stage with some of the greats, like Darol Anger, the late Emy Phelps, Bruce Molsky, Aoife O’Donovan, Margot Price, Twisted Pine and Cold Chocolate, and has been showcased on records released by Alisa Amador and Kaiti Jones, among others. Emily released her debut solo album, “Not Who You Think”, in February 2024, showcasing her vast musical repertoire—modern folk music with roots in jazz and americana. World-renowned fiddler Darol Anger aptly describes her as the "Realest Deal in a long time," praising her genuine voice, profound reflections, and songs that boldly articulate the unspoken truths we all harbor. “Real voice, real thoughts, real songs that say - with pungent power - what everyone’s really thinking. Less a singer-songwriter than a singer-songfinder, Mike takes great delight in discovering the little-known hidden gems, polishing them with his own distinctive style, and bringing them to the light of day where they sparkle. He will shift from beautifully contemplative, to uproariously funny, to instrumentally brilliant, to powerfully emotional in the space of a few minutes. Equally at home in the contemporary and traditional camps of the Folk world, he is a fine musician and storyteller. His prime instrument is the guitar, upon which he shines with intricate fingerstyle arrangements of anything from Tin Pan Alley tunes of the '20s to fiddle tunes to his own music. He also plays concertina, piano, banjo, or sings acapella. The man will capture your attention, and then your heart.
