We've had a few requests for a repost of our Christmas Wish from a few years back. Here you go.

"Truth is, I think miracles happen every day. Part of what makes Christmas so special is that, for a brief time, we’re actually open to believing in them. Think of the kids watching out the window hoping to catch a glimpse of reindeer. Or parents watching the driveway waiting for family to arrive home for the holiday. It’s the anticipation that heightens our senses and opens our hearts to things that are bigger than ourselves. That’s when we truly believe in the possibility and the miracles happen. I wonder how the anticipation would build if you were a shepherd following a star?

Our memories of Christmases past only add to the anticipation. Close your eyes and concentrate. Maybe you’ll smell fresh cut pine and woodsmoke. Or hear a thousand footsteps from excited kids running to find their stockings. Remember the taste of cookies still warm from the oven? A personal memory, as clear as that Christmas star, is standing in my grandparent’s barn and hearing my Dad telling me to breathe deep and know that was the first thing baby Jesus would have smelled. For just one second, it takes me back to being 10 years old with my Dad. That’s nothing short of miraculous!

Francis Church once told 8 year old Virginia O’Hanlon, “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist…”. Mr. Church went on to explain that Virginia’s friends, who had lost their faith in Father Christmas, were “affected by the skepticism of a skeptical age”. In a world where we have to be so suspicious and necessarily question the reality of everything, have we come so far from Virginia’s world? Do we actually believe our experiences (as a member of whatever tribe you associate with) are so different from the experiences of others? People of all races and religions, from all the cultures on Earth, share memories of their celebrations and experience the anticipation of waiting for miracles to come. Maybe we’re really not so different after all. Certainly we would all benefit by sharing love, generosity and devotion rather than suspicion and skepticism. Maybe this is the year we can expand on that. It only takes a miracle."

As is our tradition, we have a simple wish for all of you. We wish you Health & Happiness, Prosperity & Peace. Merry Christmas from all of us at Rue 6, Squire Wards & The Pasta Barn.

There's something about a chilly, rainy November day. Even in our pampered modern time, it gives me a sense that I have things to do before winter arrives. And a sense that winter could arrive any day now. It also brings a flood of memories of lighting the first real fire of the season, of soup bubbling away on the stove and of the kids and their dogs being content, at least for a day, to pile up together in a comfortable corner of the couch.

Without the cold darkness of winter I doubt we'd appreciate hearth and home as much as we do. The Rue Crew is working to make our future home as inviting as that warm fire. Until its ready, we hope you're able to soak up the changing seasons and spend time with the ones that mean the most to you. We'll see you soon.

Days like this, when the clouds are grey and thick and only the most tenacious leaves are still on the trees, bring out that mellowness. Wisdom is arguable, but approaching age is not. The fire feels better every fall and the hibernation more inevitable.

This is also the time of year when we pull out the recipes that have the deepest connection to our families and our past. For those of us with ancestors from places where winter demanded respect, harvesting and putting up the bounty was ingrained. The comfort food of a colder season returns soon enough. The Rue Crew is working on our new recipes as we work on our new space. We'll share them when the construction is complete, but for now we wish you a November filled with the warmth of family, friends and firelight. See you soon!

Its been said that fall is a season well suited for memories. As we're stacking wood and pulling sweaters from their summer bin, it would be hard to argue with that. The table is covered with recipes for hearty soup that will comfort us when the weather inevitably turns colder. We are looking forward to sharing warmth and light in the coming winter, but, for today, let's take time to bask in the gold of October.

Thanks for the memories.

After six and a half years, we made it to the last night upstairs at Rue. This location has been... challenging, but also rewarding. We're looking forward to the next chapter, but for tonight, join us for a toast before we turn off the lights. Cheers and Thank You from all of us on the Rue Crew.

And then there were two. Join us for a little nostalgia and get your Banh Mi Taco fix tonight at Rue. Or maybe a Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is in order. Whatever your favorite, we'd love to make you a cocktail, chat across the bar again and reminisce a little. See you tonight!

Five. Five nights left to soak up the French country ambiance of Rue 6. Are the yellow plaster walls and antique posters enough to make it worth climbing the stairs? Maybe. Add your favorite menu items and a Craft Cocktail or a Rare Spirit and its certainly worth the effort. We'll save you a seat.
