Hello!

For those who may not have heard, there is now a national ‘911’ su***de line, the number is 988, always available for people experiencing mental health crises and suicidal ideation, planning, etc. Please share this resource with patients as needed and robustly! Some additional background below!

Important to note is that the National Su***de Hotline phone number that many of us have shared with patients will still exist, but calls will just be routed to one of the mental health operators working in the 988 system.

Starting July 16, people in mental health crisis will have a new way to reach out for help. Instead of dialing the current 10-digit National Su***de Prevention Lifeline, they can simply call or text the numbers 9-8-8.
Modeled after 911, the new 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline is designed to be a memorable and quick number that connects people who are suicidal or in any other mental health crisis to a trained mental health professional.
