For this month’s Field Notes release, we present the Battle Of The Tree! Featuring two of our favorite local foraged ingredients, these beers highlight the young tips from two varieties of coniferous tree.

Doug- (6.5%) Featuring a notorious PNW calling card, Doug highlights the bright, woodsy flavors of the fir tip. Crafted with one pound of hand-foraged fir tips, this saison captures the essence of the forest in spring. Bright aromatics of Meyer lemon lead into fresh pine and resinous evergreen, balanced by a dry finish.

Bruce- (4.2%) Highlighting the soft, candy-like citrus notes of the spruce tip, Bruce features one pound of hand-picked spruce tips sourced from right outside the Issaquah highlands. Showcasing a more restrained tree tip presence than Doug, Bruce provides a subtle grapefruit flavor profile with hints of lemon pith and orange blossom.

Field notes is our series of one-off experimental mixed-culture beers designed by our brewers, Matt and Olivia, to highlight the unique flora of the Pacific Northwest. Each beer is a snapshot- capturing ingredients, culture and time as they exist in combination with our house yeast culture.

Come join us in the taproom on the first Tuesday of each month as we release two different beers in the Field Notes series- there will only be a keg of each available, come early to ensure you snag a pint!

Every beer we brew begins with a place. Today, we’re thinking about the people who call those places home.

The Spokane Complex Fires have touched so many in our community—friends, fellow brewers, farmers, and families we’ve come to know over the years. Like many breweries across Washington, we’re looking for a way to help.

This week we’re joining a community-wide supply drive to support those affected. If you’re stopping by either of our taprooms, we’d be grateful if you’d consider bringing a donation. Together, we’ll help get it where it’s needed most.

Thank you for helping care for our neighbors and the communities that make this state so special. ❤️

Requested donations include:
* Wet or dry cat, kitten, dog & puppy food
* Non-perishable food
* Canned goods
* Hygiene products, toiletries & other household essentials

Drop off donations at our taprooms through Wednesday, and we’ll deliver everything to Stoup Brewing in Ballard before it heads to Spokane on Thursday morning.

If you aren’t able to make it to Fair Isle, the Kendall Jones, Beer 🍺 Writer has a list of participating breweries collecting donations throughout the state. We’ve linked it in our bio.

If you’d prefer to make a monetary donation, you can screenshot the second slide and use the QR codes to donate directly.

An email has gone out to everyone who purchased tickets to this week’s Ferry & Friends sailings, with full details on your refund - no further action is needed on your end. Please check your inbox (and spam folder just in case).

As On the Hiyu shared with their community, their team identified electrical systems that weren’t meeting the standard required to sail safely, and worked through the night and into today with the U.S. Coast Guard to address it. During additional testing, an issue was also found with the vessel’s fire suppression system, which the Coast Guard requires to be fully operational before any passengers can board. On the Hiyu made the call to postpone both of this week’s events rather than compromise on safety, and we stand behind that decision.

Thank you all for your patience and kindness this week — we’re grateful for this community. Questions? [email protected] 💚

It’s a week of Ferry & Friends!

You don’t need a ticket to be part of the celebration.

While the ferry may be sold out, we’re bringing Ferry & Friends to Fair Isle all week long. Join us as we welcome breweries and friends from across the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Wednesday • Welcome Party
3:00 PM | Fair Isle Brewing
Open to the Public

Help us kick off Ferry & Friends with the release of HIYU, our collaborative blend celebrating the breweries aboard this year’s voyage.
We’ll be pouring guest beers from visiting breweries alongside Fair Isle favorites, with food from La Marea and plenty of familiar faces.
No ticket required—just come by, grab a beer, and help us welcome everyone to Seattle.

Thursday & Friday • Ferry & Friends
Not joining us aboard the HIYU?
Fair Isle will be open Thursday and Friday as usual!
We’ll be pouring a special lineup of saisons and lagers, with La Marea serving up their incredible tostadas all evening.

Whether you’re heading to the ferry, couldn’t snag a ticket, or just want a great beer and dinner, we’d love to see you in Ballard.

Saturday • Hangover Brunch
11:00 AM | Fair Isle Brewing
Open to the Public

As the ferry returns to shore, keep the weekend going with brunch from La Marea, guest beers on tap, bottle pours, and one last gathering before everyone heads home.

It’s the perfect way to close out Ferry & Friends Week.
We built Ferry & Friends around a simple idea: great beer is best enjoyed with great people.

Whether you’re joining us aboard the HIYU or raising a glass with us at the brewery, we’d love to see you this week.

Cheers,
The Fair Isle Brewing Team.

We’re just days away. ⚓

This week we’ll cast off for the very first Ferry & Friends—an evening of saisons at sunset, lagers on the lake, and good company aboard the historic HIYU.
A few reminders before you join us:

⚓ Boarding: Lake Union Park (next to MOHAI)
📍 860 Terry Ave N, Seattle
Please don’t navigate to “The HIYU” on Google Maps—it’ll take you to the wrong place.
⏰ Boarding: 6:00 PM
🚢 Departure: 7:00 PM sharp (the ferry can’t wait for late arrivals)

🚲 We recommend walking, biking, rideshare, or public transit if you can. Parking around South Lake Union fills up quickly, so plan to arrive early.

🍺 Your ticket include pours from 25+ saisons and lagers, a commemorative tasting glass, sunset views aboard the HIYU, music, and food available for purchase from Ta**us Ox and La Marea.

Make a weekend of it:

Wednesday • Welcome Party @ Fair Isle • 3 PM
Celebrate the release of HIYU, enjoy guest beers on draft, and help us welcome breweries and friends from across the country.

Saturday • Hangover Brunch @ Fair Isle • 11 AM
Guest beers, bottle pours, brunch from La Marea, and one last gathering before everyone heads home.

We built Ferry & Friends around a simple idea: great beer is best enjoyed with great people.

We’ll see you on the dock. ⚓
