Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival

Pagdiriwang Philippine Festival The Filipino Cultural Heritage Society of Washington (FCHSW) proudly presents Pagdiriwang, commemorating the anniversary of Philippine independence.

The Pagdiriwang, literally translated as "celebration", is on its 36th annual festival at the Seattle Center. It was first held in 1987 and continues to grow in both quality and number of activities. This year's theme is "Philippines: One People, Diverse Cultures. The Pagdiriwang Festival celebrates the 1896 end to Spanish rule in the Philippines, and honors the traditions and customs held most de

ar by Filipinos. Held June 7 and 8 at Seattle Center's The Armory, the Mural Amphitheater and the Eve Alvord Theater, the Filipino approach to life includes pageantry and ritual combined with genuine hospitality and generosity. Influenced by rural, tribal, Muslim, mountain and Spanish cultures spanning many generations, performance, activities, workshops, exhibits and food just hint at the dynamic heritage of these 7,100 Pacific islands. Pagdiriwang is produced by the Filipino Cultural Heritage Society of Washington and is part of Seattle Center's Festal, a year-long series of world cultural events that honors the richness and diversity of our region. Festal plays a vital part of Seattle Center's role in connecting our dynamic and varied community. The collection of events is produced by Seattle Center and individual cultural organizations, with generous support from T-Mobile and Coca-Cola.
