Shilshole Bay Beach Club to close at year’s end
SEATTLE, Wash. —
Apulent, a Seattle-based events and catering company, is closing the Shilshole Bay Beach Club and will be taking a hiatus before settling on its next venue.
Known for its fine hospitality services, excellent venues, and steadfast support of non-profit arts organizations, Apulent’s departure will leave a void in the Seattle-area’s event planning and catering industry. Apulent began in 1980, producing thousands of the Seattle area’s most successful events. It has provided full-service event planning, production, and venue management services —specializing in fine catering, weddings, and large corporate events.
“Apulent opened the Shilshole Bay Beach Club in 1993 and with great fanfare has managed the award wining event venue ever since, so we regret that it is no longer a viable location to continue doing business,” explained Joseph C. Roberts, Apulent’s CEO, who has led the company since 1993.
“After taking a well-earned break, we will search for an appropriate venue to purchase or lease,” Roberts said. "Ideally, our new location will be well suited for hosting events, displaying art, holding music performances and operating a commercial kitchen.”
The news will come as a disappointment to Apulent’s loyal clients who had hoped to book events in 2014 and beyond. “Apulent is referring clients to Kasper’s Catering (Lynne Jaicomo Deal [email protected] or 206-298-0123) because we have the utmost respect for Kaspar’s attention to detail and culinary prowess”, Roberts said.
Apulent has been a strong community partner, supporting myriad non-profit organizations including two favorites: Center on Contemporary Art (CoCA), a catalyst and forum for the advancement of contemporary art, and Copper Canyon Press, which publishes extraordinary poetry from around the world to engage the imaginations and intellects of readers.
