On this , we are highlighting the Fair sisters, Virginia and Theresa, who founded the first Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, California. Combining their maiden name "Fair", and the French word "Mont" for the hill on which the hotel would be opened, the name Fairmont was born.

With over 70 hotels worldwide, what started as a continuation of a legacy and a partnership of two sisters has blossomed into the incredible Fairmont brand we know today.

The next time you step through our storied bookcase, think of our founders themselves, and raise a glass of champagne in their honor🥂
