It’s finally in the works — construction has officially started!

We’re thrilled to officially announce our newest concept:
Schafer’s Coastal Kitchen, coming soon to Nassau Bay.

We recently acquired the former Luby’s property at 1600 E. NASA Parkway in Nassau Bay! The former Luby’s Cafeteria, a 10,000-square-foot building along NASA Parkway, across the street from Space Center Houston is being transformed into Schafer’s Coastal Kitchen, opening Fall 2026.
What to Expect:

✔️ 40 seat oval bar serving Craft cocktails & curated wine selections
✔️ Elevated yet relaxed and welcoming atmosphere
✔️ Full-service seated dining
✔️ Private dining rooms for meetings and events

For years, many residents have said there was a void in full-service dining in the area. We’re proud to help fill that gap with a destination restaurant rooted in Bay Area hospitality.
Our current locations include Schafer’s Coastal Bar & Grille, Lil Outriggers Hula Bar & Grill in Clear Lake Shores, and were partners in Outriggers Seafood Grill & Oyster Bar, the famous water born landmark located under the Kemah Bridge.
Demolition has begun.

I don’t usually respond to social media nonsense, but I need to set the record straight and protect my restaurants, my employees and confusion about parking in the town center.

First, thanks to Mayor Chronister and the Skipper’s restaurant family, we executed an agreement to use the parking lot between Skippers and Joe Lee’s after 2 pm daily to help with overflow parking due to the construction of the new parking lot in the town center. Please see the picture.

THIS IS A FREE PARKING LOT to be used by customers of the business district.

THIS FREE PARKING LOT IS PAID FOR BY SCHAFER AND THE CITY OF CLEAR LAKE SHORES.

There will be a FREE GOLF CART SHUTTLE to ferry customers to and from this lot. The shuttle will be available Thursday through Saturday night after 5 pm. This FREE SHUTTLE is paid for by Schafers and Lil Outriggers.

The shuttle is for all restaurant and bar customers in the town center business district. The driver can deliver to and pick up from Schafers, Lil Outriggers, Aspen’s, The Brewery, and Okies. Driver TIPS are much appreciated for their efforts. It is a six-person grey cart with FREE SHUTTLE decals in RED COLOR. Please see the picture.

As for some of the trash talk being spread about how my businesses are run or your experiences while frequenting them; if you have a problem with me or my establishments, I invite you to come see me so we can discuss your grievances like adults instead of hiding behind a keyboard and pontificating false information and biased opinions! Yeah, you know who you are, you lil keyboard warriors...

As for customers that don’t get caught up in the nonsense, please continue to frequent Schafers and Lil Outriggers and spread this message on your social media platforms.
