Thomas E. Jones, Sr., 92, of West Scranton, passed away Friday morning at Allied Services Hospice Unit in Scranton.
A lifelong resident of Scranton, he was the son of the late Stanley G. and Jeraldine Houston Jones. He was a graduate of West Scranton High School’s Class of 1949. He was an Army veteran serving during the Korean War from 1950-1953. He also served in the Navy Reserves for a short time in 1950. Prior to retiring he was the owner of Jones Brothers Kitchen Remodeling in West Scranton and also was a sheet metal worker at Tobyhanna Army Depot for 20 years.
Tom was a member of the VFW Post 5207 in Daleville, the Scranton UKA Vets, the Ta**us Club and a member and loyal volunteer at the West Side Senior Center for more than 20 years. He was a regular at Kilcoyne’s Tavern in West Scranton and a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and a favorite past time was walking at McDade Park. He had a sharp memory and was a great story teller. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Surviving are sons, Thomas and wife Denise and Douglas Seton Kelly and a daughter, Catherine Fallon and husband Mark. A grandson, Christopher Thomas Jones, all of New Jersey. A niece, Kimberly and a nephew Robert.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Anne Jones and Jeanne C. Jones and brothers, Stanley H. Jones and Robert G. Jones, Sr. A niece, Dale Ann.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Savino Traditional Funerals and Cremation Care, 157 S. Main Ave., West Scranton with a service at 9:00am by the Rev. Rebecca Tanner in the funeral home.
Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Monday from 4-6pm at the funeral home.
