Happy 10yr Anniversary to Blackberry Smoke’s album, Like An Arrow, which includes the track Free on the Wing, featuring the late Gregg Allman. Speaking of which, who has seen the new Gregg Allman documentary, The Music Of My Soul? Team Merch Mtn was fortunate enough to attend the red carpet screening in Macon & we highly recommend it!

Another fun fact for ya (a few days late)…On September 29th 2009, Blackberry Smoke released their second full length album, Little Piece of Dixie (a fan favorite). The dash on the album cover is from a 1979 Chevy pickup truck which belonged to my Grandfather Jack, a sign painter, until we sold it to Brit in 2008. If you don’t already have this gem in your collection, you can pick up a copy on LP or CD at www.merchmountain.com.

Fun Fact Friday. On this day, in 2015, Blackberry Smoke’s acoustic EP, Wood, Wire, & Roses was released widely, after originally being released for Record Store Day earlier that year. It features the talented fiddle player, Levi Lowrey, as well as a wonderful cover of Tom Waits’ Old Shoes (& Picture Postcards). The front & back cover was shot by the late, great, Evan Bartleson. You may also recognize the hat on the cover, as it was the one worn by Andy (The Mule) on the cover of Holding All The Roses. I will save the funny story behind that album cover for another day. Pick up a copy of Wood, Wire, & Roses on 12” purple vinyl at www.merchmountain.com.

The Merch Mountain family was lucky enough to meet Otis’ family early this year & we can’t say enough great things about them! We’re proud to help keep his legacy alive. ❤️
