THE RUMOR MILL! Lately we’ve had a lot of folks asking us about rumors they’ve heard. So here it is right from the source.
RUMOR 1 – GERSHON’S. NO…we are not buying Gershon’s. We are sad like everyone else, but it’s not for us (reason below re: Memphis King).
RUMOR 2 – THE FIRESIDE. YES…the Fireside project is very much still on. We were able to stabilize the structure and put on a new roof before winter (thus we SAVED the building!). That said, we are paused at the moment as it’s colder inside than outside right now, and we’ve been delayed by drawings. 2026 is still the goal. Thanks for your patience!
RUMOR 3 – THE MEMPHIS KING – NO…this had nothing to do with family health (our daughter came home today and is doing great…thanks for all the messages). Simply put, while the food is awesome and the customers are wonderful…to us…it just wasn’t fun. We learned over these months that it’s not the food part that drives us (although we do enjoy it), it’s the bringing people together part that does. Making food, no matter how delicious or profitable, and then watching people grab it and walk right back out the door, doesn’t light our fire…it actually extinguishes it. Take out is not for us. Bringing people together is. Brandon has the passion, the talent, and our full love and support.
RUMOR 4 – COMEDY – YES…we are looking for a location in Schenectady to open another Comedy Club! We looked at a couple spots on Upper Union Street because we REALLY want to draw people there and do our part to fill a storefront, but the people who owned the buildings we looked at were asking Park Avenue prices. We looked at Sheridan Plaza too, but that also wasn’t to be. Our search continues on…
RUMOR 5 – FOOD TRUCK PARK – YES…we are working on a plan for a seasonal outdoor food truck park. It’s very early days, but we’ve seen them on visits to Tampa and Las Vegas and if they can do it, so can we. More to come...
