We’re deeply saddened by the news of Tim Coakley’s passing. A gifted drummer with the Ragtime Windjammers and other traditional jazz ensembles, he was also a devoted advocate for jazz, leading A Place for Jazz for many years and hosting a beloved Saturday night jazz program on WAMC.

He will be deeply missed by musicians, fans, and all who knew him. Rest in peace, Tim.

Throughout his time working for the Daily Gazette, WAMC and A Place for Jazz, he took his passion for jazz and blended it into everything he did.
