It’s been a difficult year and a half for all of us with the loss of our loved ones from the George.
Earlier this year we lost another two of our bartenders.

Ken Butler worked in the “Old George” until he moved to Florida and got married and settled down there. He is survived by his lovely wife, Kari and their beautiful daughter.

Brian Fitz, aka Fitzy succumbed to cancer after moving back to England to fight the dreaded disease. Ever the jokester, he moved to Maui after years in Santa Monica and kept everyone entertained there with his words of wisdom at the local pub in Kihei.
This summer he had quite the send off with friends and family from near and far, with many faces we’ve all seen at the George in years gone by.
A couple of nights ago a few of us gathered at the Brit to raise a glass to Fitzy.
(Thank you, Eileen, for inviting us!) Some of Fitzy’s ashes are now buried where he can watch the sunset and near the George.

Rest in peace, Kenny and Fitzy! You are both missed and will never be forgotten. ❤️

Life can be cruel and it was especially cruel last weekend when it took Rich away from us in a horrendous car accident.
Rich was a huge part of the British community, he was one of our bartenders in the new George and went onto work at the Britannia as we were closing now over 25 years ago. The last several years he was a co-owner of the Brit.

The community has really gotten together this last week in their support of Jane, Isabella and Sienna, the outpouring of love has been amazing.

It’s hard to imagine life without a force like Rich, but what comforts us are the memories we all have of him. He was an instant friend and loved by all. To quote cheesy rock lyrics: he was a light that will never go out.

Rich, We love you and we will miss you.

This reminds me a bit of an episode in the new George.
A customer was complaining to the staff about a man sitting at the bar with a parrot on his shoulder and wanted to speak to the owner. The staff pointed to the man with the parrot and gleefully told the customer “That is the owner!”. Yup, that was Victor Wichman! ❤️
