A new chillable red for the weekend:
2024 Château de la Liquiere Faugères L’Ampoule ($24)

Its name, L’Ampoule translates to “the bulb”, the nickname of the Burgundian bottle, and a very Southern French phrase. We have Cinsault here with the occasional splash of Grenache depending on the vintage.

Fresh red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry with wild plum notes. Layers of garrigue (thyme, rosemary, wild fennel), a whisper of white pepper, and a faintly saline, “warm-stone” mineral signature from the Faugères schist soils. This is the Southern French answer to cru Beaujolais.

We are open Friday until 6pm and Saturday from 12-6pm.

Two New Reds from superstar winemaker Arianna Occhipinti!

2025 Arianna Occhipinti SP68 Rosso ($36)

Arianna Occhipinti is one of Sicily’s most beloved and influential winemakers, and SP68 Rosso is her gateway red â€” named for the country road that runs past her vineyards. It’s the classic Vittoria blend of Frappato and Nero d’Avola, farmed organically in limestone and sand and made with native ferments and a hands-off touch. Pure, juicy and full of energy, it brings crunchy red fruit, a wild floral lift and just enough savory grip; transparent, electric and endlessly drinkable. Serve with a slight chill.

2024 Arianna Occhipinti Il Frappato ($54)

Bright red fruit leads to aromas of wildflowers and a stony, mineral finish. Fans of Burgundy will love this! AND magnums are available too!

Looks like it’s time to grill a steak or two as the 2023 Vincent Paris Cornas Granit 60 just arrived. And the 60? It refers to the gradient of the vineyard slope, not the vine age or blend. Vine age here is 60-100+ years of age with the grapes mostly destemmed, and production tiny; less then 400 cases any given year, sometimes much less.

2023 was a difficult growing season in Cornas that ultimately produced wines closer in style to old-school Cornas. From one of our industry’s professional wine reviewers:

“A dense, juicy, textural and lively Cornas with notes of sweet cherries, raspberries, wild herbs and baking spices. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins providing a silky texture to the succulent fruit. Bright center-palate that’s full of tension and spicy energy, with peppercorns, wild herbs and stones. Mineral and vivid with a long, precise and pure finish.”

First, the wine:

2024 Peter Lauer Unterstenberg Riesling N°12 (Germany, Mosel) $68

Unterstenberg, sourced from the lower part of the Kupp mountain, is dry at around 5 grams residual sugar. We love it with the glycerin depth of the mid-palate and the profound, smoky savory quality. This is a serious bottle of wine and one of the highlights of the vintage.

There’s a great mineral expression that is multifaceted, complex, deeply interesting & wildly compelling. Savory, smoky minerality plays with textured orchid fruit, wild herbs, and a few unique notes we can’t quite pin down (plum, licorice, black tea?). This is a fascinating wine, and one that should be experienced with fellow Riesling lovers.

We’ve restocked on that famous red wine from vineyards down the road from the city of Troy in Turkey. The extremely rare grape is Karasakız and has turned out to be one of our Summer’s best sellers. Stop by Renegade and grab a bottle, chill it down for 20 minutes, then enjoy!

Are you ever in for a treat! You probably have expierenced Mondeuse from Domaine Prieuré Saint Christophe in the Savoie. We now have their epic (and rare) white wine from the Altesse varietal.

2024 Domaine Prieuré Saint Christophe Roussette de Savoie (France, Savoie, Roussette de Savoie) $88

The vineyard sits on the steep, south-facing slopes of the Combe de Savoie in the Bauges Natural Park, on soils of ancient glacial moraine mixed with alluvium, silt, and clay-limestone scree — a terroir that delivers both mineral tension and aromatic richness. This biodynamically farmed iconic vineyard site is called the golden pearl of the Savoie.

Wine in the Glass:

Aromas: Elegant and expressive...notes of white flowers, fresh orchard fruit, and subtle exotic accents.

Palate: Smooth with generous texture, more exotic fruit (think SE Asia), ripe pear, and delicate honeyed tones. The finish is long, floral, and persistent, balancing richness with alpine freshness.

A wine for the ages, though it will be difficult to cellar this one; it’s that delicious.

It’s one wild day when you see a Cotes du Rhone wine from our local winery Jaffurs!

Jaffurs paired up with famed winery Domaine de Cristia in Chateauneuf du Pape to create a red and white Rhone blend, made in CDP at the Cristia facility. There’s a first time for everything as they say.

Renegade has the two in stock through the weekend (and perhaps beyond).
$26 a piece and we’re open until 6pm today and on Saturday from 12-6pm.

This is the flagship, single-vineyard cuvée from Domaine Antoine Sanzay, grown on the Les Poyeux lieu-dit in Saumur-Champigny; the same legendary site that made Clos Rougeard famous. Sanzay section of Les Poyeux sits on a clay-limestone part of the vineyard (with vines dating to the 1960s), distinct from Clos Rougeard’s sandier plot.

The wine is seductive, silky, savory, with a succulent intensity. A wine for the Cab Franc lovers, AND...the wine was on close-out from the importer (why? we didn’t ask) so this Magnum is on sale @ $120 - 1500ml (usually closer to $190).
