Why was Quercecchio off our radar for so long? Well...not any longer!

Maria-Grazia Salvioni is incredibly inspiring, 5’3’, 83 year-old woman who makes undeniably epic Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino
in her 700+ (!) year-old cellar. Born in 1941, Maria is the fifth generation of the Salvioni family to make wine at the Quercecchio
estate, a former Benedictine monastery which itself has been producing wine since the 1300’s. Maria’s vines are perched high up
in the tiny hamlet of Tavernelle, wedged between numerous Brunello benchmarks like Soldera, the Gaja family’s Sugarille and
Rennina vineyards, etc. Tasting Quercecchio wines is like entering a time portal into a magical bygone era when Brunello di
Montalcino was a more honest, super elegant, “pure terroir” wine, crafted to reflect the idiosyncrasies of vintage, a micro-specific
vineyard, and ancient family tradition.

PLUS: the price is extremely kind for Brunello ($55).

We looked at our “waiting list” for this Croatian white and found it had grown to 22. Never fear though, we just received enough wine to cover us through the Summer.

The wine is from the island of Korčula in Southern Dalmatia. It’s a great seafood wine, a fabulous substitute for Sauv Blanc, our favorite picnic white on warm Summer days, and an all around crowd favorite at BBQs.

We are open today until 6pm, and Saturday from 12-6pm.

To mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the United States, Maison Billecart-Salmon is honored to celebrate a historic bond. The U.S. was among the House’s very first export markets, inspired by the bold and visionary ambition of Charles Billecart.

Created exclusively for the American market, this cuvée embodies a shared spirit of independence, audacity, and enduring excellence. In this spirit, and for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration, Maison Billecart-Salmon selected an exceptional vintage marking the House’s 200th harvest.

Renegade has just received this incredible Champagne in 750ml & 1500ml sizes. AND it’s on sale!

750ml: 2018 Billecart-Salmon Champagne 250th Anniversary Cuvée
$120 (reg 136)
1500ml: 2018 Billecart-Salmon Champagne 250th Anniversary Cuvée
$275 (reg 305)

Time for a celebration!

This is just silly; silly how great lunch was at Azul on Anapamu (7 E. Anapamu St to be exact). The Sopes de Pato Pibil, handmade sopes, duck confit, achiote adobo, black beans, avoca do salsa, pickled onion was off the charts excellent! The setting is airy, comfortable, gorgeous, and the back patio may be the best “hidden” dinning spot in SB.

Don’t Miss this place! Oh! And huge portions.

When we say Trocken we mean dry, as in dry with mineral-laden acid, a racy character, and an energetic drive.
Today we have 3 prime examples of this often forgotten corner of wine.

We begin with:
Joh. Bapt. Schāfer Riesling trocken (Germany, Nahe) $32
A super taut, slender, strait-laced, lithe, super fresh Riesling.

Next we have:
2024 Emrich-Schönleber Riesling trocken (Germany, Nahe) $34
An incredibly bright wine unfurling aromas of lemon and green apple; a wine full of fresh, zippy fruit.

Finally we arrive at our third:
2024 Weingut Clemens Busch Riesling trocken (Germany, Mosel) $30
Vivid, slender, again zippy, with citrus and green apple fruit. While this one may have the most texture, its verve cannot be stopped.

and FYI, the vast majority of German Rieslings are dry.

Stop by for a bottle or three, or join us at our Black Sheep dinner on April 23 to sample some great food paired with these (and other) German (and Austrian) wines.
