Founded by Eiming Jung, 111 Minna Gallery opened its doors at 111 Minna Street in the SoMa aka Yerba Buena District of San Francisco in 1993. This location would later become the heart of an up and coming art district, which was later solidified with the construction of the SF MOMA, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and progressive galleries in the surrounding area. With a business model focused on service and hospitality, patrons began to relish the visual aesthetics sourced from Bay Area artists, in conjunction with the laid-back atmosphere that has long been associated with 111 Minna. While acting as host for a vast variety of art, specifically focused on underground, low brow, edgy and often controversial, 111 Minna quickly became, for many artists, the San Francisco gallery to exhibit their work, gaining a reputation for launching artists’ careers, both nationally and internationally. Since 1993, 111 Minna Gallery has maintained its reputation for constant progression and positive energy, and in so doing, has become a cornerstone of San Francisco culture. We're proud to be San Francisco's melting pot of creativity, art, music, and good times.

Passion Projects SF (PPSF) is a nomadic gallery, shop, and community space dedicated to the personal creative work of VFX artists worldwide. They showcase paintings, sculptures, photographs, ceramics, and handmade goods by the makers behind cinema's most iconic imagery — connecting the film industry's creative legacy with the Bay Area art community.

Founded by Creative Director Katharine Baird, with David Valentin serving as Executive Producer, Passion Projects SF is a nomadic gallery, retail shop, and community space dedicated to the personal art of visual effects and post-production professionals. ‘The Artist Behind the Effect’ invites us to discover their work on its own terms, beyond the collaborative demands of a production.

The Inner Workings show, created by Randy Gaul, is a collection of artwork that spans decades of personal work. Within the show are imaginary worlds, creatures and observations brought together by life experience before the film industry and after. Additional works include furniture, lights and custom frames made from reclaimed materials from job sites and local surroundings. Randy continues in the film industry pitching original content and showing in galleries.

“My soul as an artist has always existed. My continuing film work is but a small portion of my expressive passion as an artist. As the film industry fell into prequels, sequels and other uninspired projects, it was vital to me to nurture that which has always been there within me. I am now very careful what industry projects I work on and with whom.”

The “Nostalgia,” exhibition showcases a diverse range of artists’ work that explores a fascination with nostalgia from different points of view through a variety of media. These selected artworks collectively embody a longing for the past by highlighting the vibrant cultural phenomenon, personally or socially. Featured artworks may pay homage to beloved memories through music, either abstractly or sampled from pop culture like icons or characters who became childhood heroes and a source of inspiration. Dance, aesthetics and fashion trends, TV, movies, and beloved obsolete technology, along with landmark moments in history that shaped the coming of age. As the landscape of the human experience intensifies its immersion into technology, an equal and opposite reaction is arising with a curiosity tapping into simpler times. This effect on the psyche is described to provide feelings of joy, “where sensory cues from younger years trigger deep emotional memories, activating the brain’s reward and memory centers.” The “Nostalgia” group show features artists from California and beyond. All are invited to gather for this community event.

I have had a lot of fevers these past few years. Actually, all my life. My immune system has really poor boundaries and lets anyone in which leaves me with countless fevers. But during these times, I have been visited by my craziest thoughts and feelings. All my ideas are playing at 1.5x speed with imagery I’d never imagine while I’m healthy.  
 
When it’s really bad, I douse myself in Nyquil and I feel the comforting weight of relief. Even though the fever is strong and still blasting so much intense content in my brain, I’m embraced by knowing that I have solace from the sweet syrup. It’s a bizarre mix of tranquility and pain all under a warm blanket. In other words, I am in the Nyquil Oasis.  
 
These are drawings all inspired by the Nyquil Oasis.

"Jose Di Gregorio is a muralist and painter whose work features precise hand-drawn geometric patterns with iridescent sheens, vivid gradient colors, and celestial nightscapes. The results showcase an almost machine-like precision in line work. His symmetrical and asymmetrical patterns overlap to form structures that evoke the fleeting sensations associated with phenomena like palinopsia (tracers). In a more metaphysical sense, his work explores existential questions, diverting from the immediate physical state to deeper reflections on the nature of existence.

He has been painting extensively for over 25 years, with 15 years as a full-time artist. His paintings and murals have been featured in exhibitions and festivals both internationally and across the U.S., including Art Basel Miami, as well as shows in Canada, France, Finland, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Kosovo, Mexico, New York City, Oakland, Portland, San Francisco, and Sweden, among others.

He studied at the Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art in Brittany, France, and the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, IN. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, he currently resides in Sacramento, CA."

CONGRATULATIONS Artemisia Farris on your first solo exhibition!!!!! Its about time!!!! You went hard on fast on this one and your ambition really shows with a huge wall to wall full gallery experience!!!!

It was so great seeing the immense support and packed house last night!!!!! There was such a good mix of friends, family, artists, graffiti kids, art goers, various Tenderloin social groups, local gallery owners and musicians!!!!

Not to mention great live performances by Justin Tuân Smith, Liam Berry, ☆XANUBIS☆, vazh and 🕸 $PYDA 🕷 at the adjacent Tenderloin Nathion Forrest!!!!

If your free on Friday, October 3Oth, Artemisia Farris and SWIM Gallery will hosting a pre Halloween Closing Party for 'Soft Tuff'.
