Lets see: Trump has been convicted of r**e and twice convicted of slandering the r**e victim. Not very Christian but it was only one r**e. Then there are the 23 sexual assault accusations. Then the multitudinous NDAs, the catch and kill salacious stories, the paling around with Jeffery. He did give a buddy advice: if you're rich and famous you can do whatever you want to woman, grab by the p***y, anything. He did have a little on the side with Stormy while Melania was with their infant. Karen McDoughal (sic) insists their relationship was one of love and not lust. We shouldn't be too hard on the guy. A lot of very wealthy televangelists are positive Jesus himself has sent Trump to show us the way to our better selves. (kind of a funny way of doing that but I don't have a direct line to God) And what high school kid, if he owned Miss Universe, wouldn't have snuck into the locker room and taken a peak. Trump, in his case, explained, what could they do about it? I owned the pageant!

And to be fair, "crooked Joe" may have been unseemly and sniffed the hair of a women.

To my many MAGA friends and acquaintances :

I'm heartbroken to have to tell you this, Trump doesn't really like or respect you. He confided to his press secretary, you're basement dwellers. Of course, that's not as bad as if you were military dead or wounded. Those poor souls he called "suckers and losers." I'm sure he doesn't mean much of what he says. Then again he just might. When cautioned about not telling the truth by a staffer, he replied, you don't have to tell the truth; if you just keep repeating the lie, they'll believe it. Like, the election was stolen! It wasn't. Of the 64 lawsuits brought requiring proof of fraud: The election was fair: 63. The election was stolen: 1. But hey, maybe all the judges were in on the plot to rig the election, even the ones Trump appointed. Bill Barr, his lapdog Attorney General said it was a lawful election. But Trump keeps repeating the lie. He lost by 7 million votes. It wasn't even close.

Trump is one of those intellectual mediocrities who thinks he's smarter than almost anyone else (maybe not Putin or Un or Jinping but most everyone else). He did ace a third grader's cognitive test and has boasted about the feat ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

I've had the privilege to number among my friends a MacArthur Genius, a nuclear physicist doing pure research a la A. Einstein, and a professor with two PHDs who has authored several books and frequently is asked to testify before congress. The one thing common among this gifted trio is that they are all more inclined to be aware of all they don't know as opposed to what they do and feel they can and should listen and learn from others.

Trump is like the short fat N. Korean Un who claims he can do miraculous athletic feats but without the burden of proof. Trump fell in love with Un. He kept repeating how they wrote letters back and forth and fell in love! And the crowd cheered as though Trump wasn't speaking to them in English. Un is dedicated to having a ballistic missile which can reach the mainland of the United States of America. But Trump's in love with anyway.

Wow! Dave's has been gone but not forgotten for almost 9 years now! I have neglected this site for years now. For a while it got taken over by someone posting horrible pictures of deformed or maimed dogs. The dogs are gone now. Again, I had nothing to do with it. But I've decided to come back in a different context, that of a political advocate.

These are very volatile times, divisive, in many ways lunatic. We as citizens of this great experiment known as the United States of America have been somehow divided into categories: Red and Blue, Liberal and Conservative, Woke and Asleep, etc. Bars have always been a place to discuss and debate any and all issues from sports to politics to religion to the best beers and so on. Dave's clientele was composed of every type of human on the planet, heterosexuals and homosexuals, white, black, yellow, red, brown and other colors of the human rainbow, all religions, non-religious, beer and wine drinkers, sissy cocktails and straight booze. You get the point. People came from all over the world as well as from the melting pot of San Francisco and the Bay Area. The only thing we were interested in at Dave's was whether or not you were a good or bad person, whether you would pay for your reasonably priced drinks and whether or not you bothered others. People having a bad day or night were asked to leave but could come back. People who crossed the red line were banished forever. Over my nearly fifty years tending bar on both coasts the great majority of people were good enough to not be banished for life. Further, most people got along with others, often with different views on politics or religion or sports teams or beer selections. I don't believe this has changed hardly at all. I believe most Americans have been PUT into camps by political manipulation a la the likes of Carl Rove who started the Red-Blue bu****it. Subsequently, it has devolved all the way down the MAGA (Make America Great Again) which is bonkers in the extreme because America was already GREAT. I guess some folks are nostalgic for the 60s or 50s but they aren't coming back. In 1960 there were only 180 million people in the country. Even earlier the country was controlled mainly by white protestants. Today the country of 330 million is made up of all races and ethnicities with all kinds of religious belief and a growing number of the non-religious. Our credo should be let's MAKE AMERICA EVER GREATER (MAEG)!! Not sure how we'd pronounce that but we are the country with the world's biggest economy, best military, lowest inflation (or close to it), most diverse population (living mostly harmoniously), lowest unemployment, and best universities. Unfortunately, this country and all the other countries on planet earth are over-populated with humans, a very nasty animal capable of homicide, genocide, (killing his own kind), larceny, sexual obsession to predation, cheating and lying, gluttony and avarice, etc. It's said God would have blown the planet up years ago if it weren't for dogs! But somehow WE the PEOPLE in AMERICA have managed to do pretty well together despite our myriad differences.

I'm not sure how many people will read these words, maybe only a few but nevertheless, despair if you must, I am only getting started. Every day until the election or almost every day, I will continue to plague you with my opinions on the state of the nation and how we can MAEG!!!

endorses Joe Biden for President of the United States

Joe is a good and decent man, not a perfect man, but a man of true compassion and empathy for the people who live on Main Street. He will do his damnedest to bring folks together and not attempt to tear them asunder to acquire political power and personal monetary gain. He will be a healer. He will actually acknowledge there are people smarter and more expert in all kinds of critical arenas who can help him run a country. He will not demand loyalty oaths but will demand his people do their jobs competently. He will try to provide health care to all the people that is affordable and good. He will introduce and pass legislation to improve the crumbling infrastructure of the richest country on earth. He will finally meet the challenge of getting immigration legislation passed. He will not welcome rapists and murders into the country. He will address systemic racism but he will not defund the police whom he values greatly and wants to be the best trained in the world. He will not condone criminal behavior by common thugs or by white collar crooks who steal far more and suffer far fewer penalties. Unlike the Trumper government which is opposed by most main stream Republicans such as former Governor Kasich and Colin Powell, he will not fill his cabinet with incompetent billionaires, many born with golden spoons up their butts, like Mnuchin, DJ Trump and his kids, Betsy (never been in public school) DeVos, Jared Kushner, Wilbur (King of Bankruptcies)Ross.

To those of you who don't like Joe, vote for him anyway because he is 1,000 times better than the surreal fraud of a reality-show fool now occupying the White House (which DJ referred to as a dump after moving in reluctantly). Joe Biden will begin the healing of America and that is exactly what is required at this moment.

To my friends and acquaintances who are planning on voting for Trump, DON'T! You've been duped, told and sold a bunch of lies by an empty suit, a fake tan, a ridiculous hair piece, a inveterate liar who doesn't give a flying fiddlestick about the poor, the working poor, the forgotten, the misbegotten, the drunken, the opioid addicted, the uneducated, hungry, those in prison, those without shelter or adequate clothing. You're all pawns to DJ, suckers and losers prone to believing conspiracy theories like Q and that liberals and democrats are going going to take away your bibles, guns and freedom. They aren't. They haven't in the past. They won't in the future. The fraud couldn't name a single favorite passage from the bible because he claimed they are all good. He said the second greatest book of all time was The Art of the Deal which he not only didn't write but probably hasn't read according to the actual author. He cheats on his wives and divorces them, advocates for the right for rich celebrities to grab the pu***es of women, has a safe full of NDAs, lies like the wind, tweets ad nauseam, refuses to read his briefings, paid off the defrauded students of Trump University $25,000,000.00, refused to show his tax returns (but has nothing to hide except he doesn't pay taxes (which he says makes him smart), betrays his allies, most notably the Kurds, cozies up to dictators the world over such as Putin, Kim Un, Duarte, and the guys in Brazil and Turkey. I could go on and on and on...

Many of you are convinced there is a clear divide between
Americans in Red or Blue states or liberals and conservatives. There isn't. I spent 45 years of my life in the bar biz, meeting people from all over the States and the world. 90% of us share far more than separates us. We want a decent life for ourselves and our families, enough money to have a roof over our heads, get our kids educated, and have some good times doing what we like. If you really want to see a world that will restrict your freedoms, vote for DJ Trump for he is the exact opposite of the truth.

Greetings Dave's Nation!
It's been four years today that our little ship in an ocean of greed and stupidity was dry-docked. Most of us have moved on to splendid new endeavors. We were the best the west had to offer, so it's no surprise we're doing well. Still, I miss our gathering place like I miss a departed great friend, grief commensurate with the love we felt. On the last night of the late great bar Dave's, I had the profound honor of hugging Merv Williams, our beloved 7 day a week regular who held court at the end of the bar in his "reserved" seat. When the irreplaceable Ray Gun died the torch got passed to another veteran and heroic beer imbiber. Merv loved Dave's and everyone at Dave's loved Merv. Merv has passed. Long live Merv. The Dave's nation adorns your resting place with a blanket of LOVE!

hey all Dave's followers, I want to thank the many, the brave, the scornful of the AMA's directive of no more than two drinks a day! You came to the 30th Anniversary party and made it the party of the century in some low places where the people spring up on their own two feet and make things wondrous happen--or not! But we will not judge!

i especially want to thank co-host Ellen aka Mrs. Dave and especially our son Ryan for getting us back to our hotel. Further thanks to Mariposa Yacht Club host Glenn Arlands for getting us such a beautiful venue on the water. For those that couldn't make it, thanks for being with us over the past 30 years. If all 20,000 to 2,000,000 of you came it would've been hard on the bartenders.

I especially want to thank Colin aka Aqua Lad and his lovely MRH (Marilyn) for making all the signs, name tags etc.

Goli and Mike who sold me Dave's and helped run it initially were there as were Ken and Lisa, Regina and others from long before the birth of Dave's. Anthony, Danny, J. Hanson, the impresario Steve Corrigan, the mad Scotsman Bob McDonald who helped launch in "89, Rafael the beer man, Bob the knife man, Max the handicapper and his lovely fiancee, Steve and his better half readying to live abroad (can you blame them?), Mario the shoe repair magician, and so many more that I got too inebriated to remember, but I thank you all from the heart, not for coming to a party but for making Dave's that special one of a kind place: a rendezvous of friends!

Good news flash: The Lark is moving out of the Dave's location to the next building over. Dave's will no longer be sullied by such a cheap imitation of a real bar. Viva the memories!!!
