Club 21 21 Club is located at Turk and Taylor streets in San Francisco's Tenderloin and is one of Esquire's Best Bars in America.

The 21 Club is one of the last remaining bastions of Tenderloin dive bars in San Francisco. Located at the intersection of Turk and Taylor, the place serves stiff drinks and bottled beers to a diverse crowd of both grizzled old-timers and bohemian youth. Frank the bartender has been serving there as long as anyone can remember. In fact the place is often referred to as Frank's 21 Club. The walls a

re crammed with dusty mementos and non-ironic kitsch that complement a jukebox laden with musical memories from decades gone by. Although the overhead TV is usually tuned to sports or the prime-time movie du jour, sometimes the most intense drama happens right outside the 21 Club's front door, here in the heart of the Tenderloin, life itself is a round-the-clock tragicomedy.

I'm still missing that damn place.
It's heartbreaking to look at all the photos...
It's hard to find a job after working there for soo many years. If anyone hears of anything let me know please. I'd appreciate it.

Hi Everyone,
Sure do miss you. I have some bad news.
Steve Law passed away Feb. 4th from a long bout with cancer.
I talked to him 2 days before he went back home. He knew he was dying and seemed to be okay with it. I'm not.
I hope to see him when I get back home...
What do you think?
I miss him. Remember, he's the fortunate one.

I tried to document the 21 Club over its last few months. And to me, this helps describe what it was about. Everyone completely relaxed in an extremely comfortable atmosphere. I cannot adequately express how great this place really was, nor can I adequately express how much those of us who hung out…
