On Friday and Saturday I was reminded by Facebook that, for twenty-one years, this weekend before Thanksgiving was PinotFest! (Our first celebration was in 1999, out last in 2019) 😃 It was, and remains, an honor and immense pleasure to have hosted PinotFest at Farallon, to think back with immense joy and pride to all the people, all the friendship, all the memories, all the gorgeous wine, all the smiles. Huge thank you again to all who poured, who sipped, who served! 💜 Good times!

Greetings, wine lovers and friends of Farallon. Some sad news, but unfortunately we are going to cancel PinotFest 2020. There's a whole lotta things more pressing and important right now—plus, a slew of other HUGE-normous events have made the same call (like concerts, and Broadway and hello, like, the Olympics, and holy crap the list goes on and on!)—but still the decision makes all of us a bit sad. Tiny space, walls to wall people, and who knows what the fall will bring with this nasty novel coronavirus...just ain't gonna happen. We made it to year 21, tho, so at least we're finally of legal drinking age! 😃 Year 22, whenever that might be...who knows? We'll keep you posted. Until then, stay safe and sane, my friends, and enjoy some tasty West Coast pinot noir!

The check is in the mail! 😃 Very happy to report that a donation of $2400 has been sent to The Watershed Project, complements of PinotFest and some very generous attendees. Huge thank you to everyone who swirled, sipped and supported our efforts to support their efforts: we love what they do and how they do it. Happy Holidays!

Our reviewers tasted more then 2,700 bottles of Pinot Noir in 2019. But only these are our best of the best Pinot Noirs in 2019.

Thank you for the sweet review, Steve! (And the detailed reviews on some vino.) It was a pleasure seeing you yesterday at the trade tasting.

You can take the boy out of the wine critic business, but you can’t take wine criticism out of the boy…or something like that. All of which is to say that, although I’ve been happily retired for years, I still love wine tasting. It’s given me pleasure since the 1970s; why stop now?

Huge shout out to David and Amy at Accent Printing & Design in Santa Rosa, and Tony with S.Pellegrino! Every year Accent prints the PinotFest tasting booklets (and does an absolutely bang up job!), and every year San Pellegrino keeps us well hydrated for two days of pinot noir.
