The lively and well-loved Mexican restaurant, which the Chronicle once feted as “always a party,” has closed after three decades in the city.

The Cadillac Bar & Grill has enjoyed an incredible run in San Francisco for nearly 30 years across its two locations. Originally opened near the Moscone Center in the 1980s, where it became a San Francisco icon for decades. The restaurant later found its home in Mid-Market—an area that, over time, became increasingly difficult to sustain.

We were thriving up until 2019, when COVID devastated the city and its hospitality industry. Unfortunately, our neighborhood never fully recovered, and the departure of Twitter from our building further accelerated the challenges. Through it all, I persevered—outlasting every other restaurant that tried to survive in this area.

After much reflection, I’ve decided that the end of 2025 was the right time to close this chapter.

I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported us over the decades—our loyal regulars, our guests, and all those who shared great meals and lasting memories with us. It has truly been an honor.
