PUBLIC WORKS
"Givin' the People what they Want"

a multifaceted event and community space in San Francisco's Mission District. Public Works consists of a 2 performance/event spaces, 2 bars, an art gallery and artist work shop/community room. From DJ oriented Club Parties and live bands to independent film screenings, performance art and random creative Outbursts, Public Works is a Hangout, a Happening, an Adventure. We encourage the growth of art and creativity in the Mission and San Francisco as a whole and are intent to provide a forum and a physical space for both.

** As part of our commitment to the Neighborhood we will donate a portion of our proceeds to various local non profits in addition to assisting them with promotions and events. We're all about bringing the wide array of San Francisco's underground scenes and styles together under one roof while promoting and linking with some of the bay areas most inspiring, creatively oriented non profits. **

This week at Public Works 🗓️

Wednesday brings Deep House Yoga to the dance floor for an evening of movement and music. On Friday, EAZYBAKED takes over the Main Room with rSun, while the Loft gets a little otherworldly with First Contact: An Extraterrestrial Disco. Then on Saturday, Ivy Lab takes the stage for their farewell tour, marking the end of an era for a duo whose forward-thinking approach has helped shape the sound of modern bass music.

Day 16 of Year 16 ❤️

Sixteen years of Public Works, shaped by the people who’ve walked through our doors and made this place their own. To everyone who’s been part of it, thank you. We’re proud of what we’ve built together and excited for what’s still ahead.

We’ve saved the best part for the dance floor. Anniversary weekend is officially underway, and we’ve got the whole weekend ahead of us to celebrate.

Here’s to 16 years and counting.

Day 15 of 16

Across 16 years, Public Works has been home to art exhibitions, workshops, talks, film screenings, fundraisers, live performances, community gatherings, and plenty of nights built around music.

Here’s a look at some of the events that have found a home here over the years, and the many different communities that have helped shape the space.

Day 14 of 16 🦺

We’ve got a few tiny construction workers on the loose, and frankly, they’re not doing a great job of staying on the clock.

From October 15 to 17, keep your eyes peeled around the club. Find one of these little guys and there might just be a prize with your name on it.

Master Builder memberships, free Halloween and NYE entry, drink tickets, JHK pins… not bad for a little light detective work.

Found one? Bring it to coat check to claim your prize. Happy hunting, besties.

Day 13 of 16

Sixteen years, 16 photos, and a lot of history in between. We went digging through the archives for a little look back at PW over the years.

From the early days to everything that’s come since, here’s a little glimpse of the people, nights, and moments that have made this place what it is.

Go on, take a scroll. You might be in here.
