Creating an elevated experience while in mode doesn’t need to be complicated. I like spirits in all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages, but one that I always like to have on Ready Five is -- this is the base of our house old fashioned at Avant Restaurant at and a whiskey I like to drink alone or in a variety of cocktails. ⠀
::⠀
Below is the recipe we use and the way we make it, but I will share more details at the bottom on how to adjust based on your own at-home ingredients ⠀

1) Woodsman with large branded clear ice⠀
2) Kikori Whiskey used in our large batch of the Woodsman cocktail. The cocktail is added to Gold Flasks which we pour tableside.⠀
3) Gold Flasks filled with our Woodsman cocktail at Avant.⠀

Woodsman⠀
2 Dashes Orange Bitters⠀
1/4 oz Jasmine Lemongrass Syrup*⠀
2 oz Kikori Whiskey⠀
::⠀
Prep: Stirred⠀
Glass: Double Old Fashioned⠀
Ice: Branded Large Clear Square (or whatever ice you have on hand)⠀
Garnish: Fresh Lemongrass⠀
:: ⠀
*Jasmine Lemongrass Syrup--⠀
Brew 8 oz of Jasmine Green Tea. Add to pot along with 1 cup sugar. Bring to a simmer and add sliced lemongrass, 3 crushed cardamom pods, 3-5 bay leaves. Simmer for 15 mins, tasting for the flavor profile you are looking for along the way. Remove from heat and strain. Place liquid in a container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.⠀
:: ⠀
If you don't have lemongrass, try makrut lime leaves, which have a citrus aroma and flavor component. You could also use lemon zest, however, it will come out a bit stronger in lemon flavor and not quite as balanced. You might lessen the cooking time to accommodate.⠀

If you’re like “Hey! I’m tryna' get eggs and flour and toilet paper ( ) so makrut lime leaves and lemongrass, not gonna happen!” Here’s how to mimic the basic flavors without simmering anything—make a honey syrup (equal parts honey/hot water), use 1/4 oz of this and add an expressed lemon twist on top! !⠀
