Vacutherapy (also known as MediCupping or ACE Massage Cupping) uses controlled negative pressure and dynamic moving cup techniques to lift, separate, and mobilize soft tissues. It effectively clears congested lymphatic fluid, breaks up old debris, stimulates lymph nodes, and restores efficient lymphatic flow, delivering visible contouring results for both the body and face.

In an informative BIOTONE EDU-TALK, lymphatic expert Anita Shannon explains how Vacutherapy works, the real benefits it brings to clients, and demonstrates powerful techniques by including a hands-on facial session.

Whether you’re a wellness practitioner looking to expand your skills or someone curious about natural bodywork and contouring solutions, this video is packed with practical insights.

Sprained ankles are one of the most common injuries, but they do not have to sideline your clients for long. As more people stay active, ankle strains and instability are on the rise. Massage therapy can play a valuable role in easing discomfort, supporting circulation, and helping restore mobility during recovery. It can also be a proactive tool to improve tissue flexibility and reduce the risk of future injury.

06/09/2026

Massage therapists rely on their hands every day. Without smart technique and recovery habits, those same hands can lead to chronic pain and shortened careers. Research suggests that 60 to 80 percent of massage therapists experience work related musculoskeletal disorders, with the thumbs, wrists, and forearms most commonly affected.

Beyond positioning basics, here are practical ways to protect your hands:
Minimize repetitive micro trauma. Alternate pressure tools such as forearms, knuckles, elbows, and palms instead of defaulting to thumbs or fingers. This helps reduce cumulative stress on smaller joints.

Build balanced strength and resilience. Incorporate targeted hand and forearm exercises two to three times per week. Light wrist curls, finger extensions, and mobility work help offset the constant gripping and compressing demands of the job.

Prioritize recovery. Contrast therapy, self massage with a lacrosse ball or gua sha tool, and gentle nightly stretching may support circulation and reduce tension. Some therapists also use topical arnica or magnesium, though results can vary.

Optimize your setup. Adjustable tables, proper bolstering, and thoughtful client positioning reduce the need for excessive sustained pressure. When possible, include short breaks between sessions to reset posture and release tension.

Know when to seek help. Persistent pain, tingling, numbness, or clicking may indicate conditions such as De Quervain’s or carpal tunnel. Early care from a hand therapist or ergonomic specialist can prevent more serious injury.

Consistent habits help protect your hands and support a long, sustainable career!

Listen and learn as Michael explains how Principles of Human Embryology are now being applied to palpation skills in manual therapeutic arts. Over decades the global osteopathic community has begun integrating basic principles of growth and development in the embryo still present in the adult body. These basic principles include how to hold the overall form of the body as one living organism and the ordered development in movement of the organs and systems of the body. Because of the prevalence of metabolic disorders in clients, Michael will discuss why embryonic palpation skills are necessary.
