Thirteen years ago, I walked through the doors of Avenues Proper as one of the opening servers. I never imagined that what started as a job would become a career, a second home, and a family.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of wearing a lot of hats. I served tables, planned events, promoted beer releases, celebrated incredible beer dinners, and helped tell the story of a company I’ve loved. I’ve watched Proper grow, evolve, and create a community unlike any other.
I’ve worked alongside some of the most talented people in this industry. To my coworkers, past and present, thank you for the laughs, the long shifts, the late nights, and the friendships that I’ll carry with me forever.
And to my “babies,” the former employees who grew up here, moved on to new adventures, and still somehow feel like part of my family, you have no idea how proud I am of you. Watching so many of you find your paths has been one of the greatest joys of my time here.
To our guests, regulars, vendors, and everyone who ever shared a pint, attended a dinner, came to an event, or simply stopped in to say hello, thank you. You made this so much more than a job.
Leaving is bittersweet. I’m excited for what’s next, but a piece of my heart will always be here. It will always be in the beers we celebrated, the dinners we shared, the events we created, and the countless laughs along the way.
I’ll be around for one more week, so if you see me, please come say hi. I’d love the chance to share one more conversation, one more hug, or one more beer with all of you before I head off on my next adventure.
