Owners Jeff and Jennifer Carleton decided to open Mountain West Hard Cider after enjoying the cider traditions of Europe and researching the exponential growth of the craft beverage in the United States. t quickly fell in love with the awe-inspiring state. After realizing there were just a few options for a local cider, Jeff and Jennifer quickly committed to bringing Utah cider options to the market. Together with seasoned winemaker and head cidermaker, Joel Goodwillie, Mountain West Hard Cider is proud to share an age-old European tradition of fermented hard cider with the local community using quality ingredients sourced right here in the Mountain West Region. "Ruby," the flagship cider for Mountain West Hard Cider, is named for the sandstone canyon that crosses from Colorado into Utah, and made from local Utah apples. Mountain West Cider is proud to offer 3 other year-round selections including 7-Mile Session, Cottonwood Dry-Hopped, Sweet Alice Peach and Turmeric and Desolation Prickly Pear Hard Cider as well as several rotating and seasonal varieties. Come ask for Ruby and Ruby's friends at our tasting room located at 425 North and 400 West in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. The latest in our single varietal Gold Series has arrived! Mountain Rose is a very special apple; it is a red-fleshed apple with green skin. These red-flesh apples create a beautiful range in color when made into a cider. Ours leans orange in color, with tasting notes of red berry, peach, and nectarine.
