Shug’s FAQ’s (last updated 6/19/2025)
1. Some parking lot party, festival events may be all ages. They will be marketed accordingly. Shug’s is a bar, music & art venue with a chill enjoyable community vibe.
2. ORDER AT THE BAR: No table service. You order at the bar and pay at the bar. You can run a tab or pay as you go. We accept both cash and card. SEATING: We have limited indoor and outdoor seating with front patios and a back deck.
3. LIVE MUSIC: We are a music venue that books live music from this area and beyond. We provide a platform for independent artists and original music. Live music and DJ’s are allowed to cover songs from the Global Music Rights catalog only at this time. If you enjoy the type of live music and entertainment we bring to our area, we would love your support. Music donations are accepted, 100% goes straight to the bands. On occasion, our live music events are ticketed, or have a charge at the door. It’s cozy in here with a capacity of around 55 patrons inside. Music performances at Shug’s are intimate and a real good time. All ticket sales, door charges and tips go directly to the musical artists performing at our venue. Music donations go to the cause and help us greatly with booking. We book solo/duo and full bands. If you are interested in booking, please email us at [email protected]. PRIVATE EVENTS: Yes, you can rent our space (including, patios only) for private parties/events. Please message or email us for more information.
4. FOOD IS BACK!! A late night OMM Burger menu is available by Shug’s BackStrEATs every Open Mic Monday at 5pm until! Food may be offered other event hours, please be on the lookout for out while we work through the kinks!
5. LUNCH: Shug’s BackStrEATs Lunch TO-GO— our brand-new to-go lunch spot, serving up fast, fresh, and flavorful eats every Tuesday & Thursday from 11am to 2pm! Order online at shugsnc.com/shugs-backstreats Pick up around back — you’ll see the pass-through window on our back deck (it’s like a food truck… without the truck)! Delivery available, too — so lunch comes to you! 🚗 Wanna hang out? Feel free to grab a seat on our back deck or front patios and enjoy your lunch right here with us!
6. DOGS: Furry friends are welcome to join you on our back deck and patios! Please keep them on a leash and have their vaccinations up to date and handy in case needed. Thank you!

We’re looking for independent artists (solo acts up to 5-piece bands) from across the region to compete for Ca$H Prizes and a chance to showcase your talent — all while raising money for the Rowan County United Way’s Into the Light: Su***de Prevention and Mental Health Awareness Walk!

🥇 1st Place – $1000
🥈 2nd Place – $450
🥉 3rd Place – $150

The Details:
• 10 acts will compete (all original music, open until 10/14/2026 or until all 10 slots are filled)
• $50 entry fee applies only to bands chosen in the drawing to compete.
• ALL entries MUST be submitted by Tuesday, October 14th at 11:59 PM.
• Round 1:3 songs (20 min set)
• Final Round: Top 3 acts play 1 song each
• Sound & Backline provided – just bring your instruments, mics, stands, cords & talent
• Judges are music professionals not affiliated with Shug’s or any band in the competition.
• FAN FAVORITE AWARD given to the band that receives the most fan votes and raises the most money for Into the Light

Jacksonville FL-born and North Carolina-based, LC
Edmunds is a DJ and music producer with a
20-year career in electronic dance music. He plays sets with a style that blends trance, breakbeats, house, ambient, and psychedelic. LC uses both vinyl and digital formats, as well as his original content, creating a unique and immersive soundscape. Edmunds has evolved from a DJ into a live electronic performer. With his new modular experimental sound project, Mabawaba, LC blends acid baselines, house grooves, ambient colors, and evolving textures. Breaking away from traditional DJ set ups, each set is a journey built in real time with modular synths, drum machines, processed vocals, effects pedals, and loopers. With a passion for trance, breaks, house, ambient, psychedelic, and heavily influenced by rap, hip-hop, reggae, and pop, LC Edmunds crafts sets that resonate with both nostalgia and innovation. Expect driving rhythms, deep grooves, and immersive soundscapes making each performance a memorable experience.
