Join us Friday night as we bid a fond farewell to our taproom and downtown Salem. It will be the last night you can bid on our silent auction and Rich Swanger (Duo) will be playing his brand of northwest folk music from 8-10 PM. Many ciders will be had! We love you and can’t thank you enough for all of your support these last few years.

NEW CIDERS!!!
We are going out with a bang this week, releasing two brand spanking new ciders. Available starting tonight!

On the left we have a 100% pure barrel-fermented quince, which is called a “Quincy”. It is a rare treat that is hard to find anywhere. At first, the Quincy tastes like a Riesling wine with notes of lime, apricot and rose petals then finishes with hints of cashews and honey.

On the right is a new cider we are calling “Bittersweet”. This aged bittersweet apple blend brings structure and balanced acid with aromas of wildflowers, peaches, and oak. Refined citrus and white strawberries on the mid-palate and finishes with persistent notes of cinnamon and honey.

1859 Cider fans, in our last week here we are going to offer you the opportunity to bid on some of our rarest ciders. We have been hoarding these for a long time—but for good reason—they are complex, bone dry, and some of the finest examples of what cider can be. We are going to do this in the form of an auction, so please come down to the cidery sometime this week and place your bids (see comments for more details). The auction will close next Friday, winners will be announced Saturday, and pickup will be Monday. We are so proud of these ciders and can’t wait to share them with you!

After years of work pioneering to transform Salem’s historical downtown alleyways from trash into treasure and five years of bringing truly handcrafted cider made from real local fruit with nothing but passion added, we are forced to close the taproom and move into distribution only due to our landlord. The taproom’s last day will be Friday, June 18th. We thank you for all your support these last several years – we are so proud of the community we’ve built and become a part of. We hope you’ll ask your watering hole for an 1859 Cider keg so you may continue to enjoy cider with real integrity.
