It’s been great being part of the service industry community in St Pete. Our lease is not being renewed, and that’s probably all that needs to be said.
It has certainly been a journey. This city was a different place when we began. It’s lost a bit of its soul with all the out of state developers putting up condos, but, that’s progress. I miss the grit and the old st Pete, and I’ve only been here for 17 years. I can’t imagine how much it has changed for friends who’ve lived here their entire lives. However, that has already been put into words far more eloquently. Even with the changes in St Pete, there’s a core of great people in the service industry here who will not be beat. Treat them well.
We want to thank all of our locals and regulars who love the bar, and have reached out concerning our closure. The bar was thriving, the art shows continued to support the community, and the current team is the best mix we’ve had since we started, and we’ve had some good ones.
I’d like to thank Jen for putting up with weekly freak outs, making fantastic menus, and being the heart/mom of this place. Thanks to Dan for keeping things running and curating art shows (and also putting up with freak outs), Poochie for being one of my favorite people on the earth and solid af, Madeline for being an absolute machine behind the bar (and gifting me yearly dog pooping calendars ♥️), and the rest of my staff for being amazing in caring about the bar. You guys are gold, and it means everything to me. Any establishment in town will be lucky to have you, and I’d work with all of you again without a second thought. A ton of other people have helped through the years too, and we couldn’t have done it without you either, thank you.
I’ll miss a lot of things, and some not so much. Responding to the one star reviews might be my favorite. For all of you who left those, thank you. We laughed and laughed, and I enjoyed defending my people. I will not miss the disingenuous developers, or property management company owners who told me they won’t lose sleep over putting locals out of work, but I digress.
We’re going to try to run it and get weird until the 20th or so of April. Come on out, have some drinks, play some games, tip your bartenders, and send The (Wayward Blue) Goose off with some love. See you soon and wish you well!
Cheers,
Alex, Jen, Dan, Pooch, Madeline, Jazmine, Bru, Jake, Koby, and Chuck
