We’re proud to be hosting the 2026 Christmas Cards for Soldiers Project today in partnership with MU Extension and H.E.R.O.E.S. Care!

Stop by Hobos at the Legion TODAY from 11 AM–1 PM and take a few minutes to write a Christmas message for a service member serving overseas. ❤️🤍💙

The cards will be included in care packages sent by H.E.R.O.E.S. Care and delivered to soldiers during the Christmas season. 🎄📬

It’s such a simple way to send a little piece of home, encouragement, and holiday cheer to the men and women who will be spending Christmas away from their families.

Help us wish a very Happy Birthday to James, one of our awesome dishwashers here at Hobos! 🥳

James is one of those employees who is always willing to go above and beyond. Whether he’s coming in early to help make pizza dough, jumping in to help the girls bus tables when we’re slammed, or keeping the dish pit moving during a crazy rush, he’s always ready to lend a hand wherever he’s needed.

Every single job at Hobos plays an important part in keeping this place running, and our dishwashers are no exception! They help uphold the high standards of cleanliness we’re so proud of and without them working quickly and efficiently, there wouldn’t be clean plates for your fried chicken or a clean glass for that ice cold beer! 🍗🍺

James, we appreciate your hard work, your willingness to help wherever you can, and everything you do behind the scenes to keep HOBOS running smoothly.

🇺🇸 ITS ALMOST VETERANS DAY AT HOBOS — AND WE WANT OUR COMMUNITY INVOLVED! 🇺🇸

If you’ve been coming to HOBOS for years, you may already know about one of the traditions that means the absolute most to us. And if you’re brand new around here, we’d love to tell you about it.

Every single year, without fail, we close our doors to the public around Veterans Day and open them specifically for our veterans and their families. ❤️🤍💙

Veterans and their families who walk through our doors are treated to a FREE fried chicken meal, complete with sides and drinks, as our small way of saying thank you for the sacrifices they have made for our country.

And this year is no exception! 🇺🇸

We are already in the middle of planning this year’s celebration, but we wanted to do something a little different…

We want YOU to be a part of it.

Over the years, we’ve watched our customers shake hands with veterans, share stories with them, anonymously pick up their dinner tabs, and simply take the time to say “thank you.” It is one of the coolest things to witness, and it reminds us over and over again that our HOBOS family loves this country and its veterans just as much as we do.

So this year, we’re bringing the community into the celebration!

🖍️ FOR OUR LITTLE HOBOS:
We have four different Veterans Day coloring sheets available at the restaurant! Between now and November, if you’re dining with us and have kiddos at the table, we’d LOVE for them to color one while they wait for their meal.

We’ll collect every single one and use them to decorate HOBOS for our Veterans Day celebration! Some may even become special little “cards” for the veterans joining us that day. ❤️

🍎 FOR OUR LOCAL TEACHERS & CLASSROOMS:
We are also looking to partner with a few local classrooms that would like to help us make decorations for the event!

The possibilities are endless:
🇺🇸 Paper chains with a special message to a veteran written on each link
🇺🇸 Handmade table centerpieces
🇺🇸 Cards and thank-you notes
🇺🇸 Patriotic artwork for our walls
🇺🇸 Classroom banners
🇺🇸 Or whatever creative idea your students can dream up!

We have upstairs AND downstairs dining areas to decorate, so we would love to fill this place with artwork and messages made by local kids for the men and women we are celebrating.

If you’re a local teacher, school employee, parent, or know a classroom that may want to participate, please reach out to us! We’d love to connect with a few classes and make them part of something really special.

Our veterans deserve a room filled with love, appreciation and reminders that the generations behind them know exactly who we have to thank for the freedoms we enjoy today. 🇺🇸❤️

Just a heads up, HOBOS family, this is our LAST WEEK of regular hours before our annual Reset Week! 🇺🇸🐷

Come see us this week and get your HOBOS fix before we switch things up for a few days!

📅 RESET WEEK: SEPTEMBER 22–26
During Reset Week:
🕚 We’ll OPEN at 11 AM
🕔 We’ll CLOSE at 5 PM
🍽️ Last seating at 4:30 PM
🥡 To-go orders will shut off at 4:30 PM

Reset Week is something we do every year to give our hardworking crew a little extra time to rest, take vacations, spend time with family, and recharge after a busy summer and before we head into the holiday season. ❤️

But for now, we’re here ALL WEEK with normal hours! 🙌

🪙🇺🇸 OUR CHALLENGE COIN COLLECTION HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!

When Mr. Hobo first started heading out and handing out our Hobos Hero Coins, we knew they were special… but we quickly realized we had no idea just how big the challenge coin tradition really is!

Before long, people started “trading” coins with us and giving us coins of their own! and our little collection started growing. So naturally, we decided those coins deserved a proper home!

Check out our brand-new Challenge Coin Display! 🇺🇸

Now we want to fill it up! If you have a military, police, fire, EMS, department, organization, or other challenge coin you’d like to add to the HOBOS collection, bring it by and drop it off. We’d be honored to display it here at the restaurant!

We think this is going to be pretty darn cool to watch grow. ❤️🤍💙

And who knows… someday we might need a bigger flag. 😉🪙🇺🇸

Today is one of those days that means a little something extra around here.

Being Hobos at the American Legion means we have the privilege of serving veterans, first responders, military families, and the people who have dedicated their lives to serving others every single day. Their stories, their sacrifices, and their service are a part of the community we call home.

So today, September 11th, we pause.

We remember the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001. We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMTs and first responders who ran toward danger without hesitation. We remember the military members who answered the call in the years that followed. And we remember the families who have carried the weight of that day for the last 25 years.

But we also remember what happened afterward.

Neighbors helped neighbors. Strangers became family. Flags flew from porches and businesses. Communities came together. For a moment, we were simply Americans standing beside one another.

That sense of community, service and looking out for the person next to you is something we hope to always represent here at Hobos.

Today we remember the lives lost.
We honor the heroes.
We thank those who serve.

And we promise to Never Forget. 🇺🇸
