On September 24, 2026, Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger will be enshrined in the National Aviation Hall of Fame - and it is arguably the most significant milestone of his career.

This enshrinement means more than any medal or award he has received over the past 17 years:

Chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1964 and located in Dayton, Ohio (the birthplace of aviation), it isn't just an annual award - it's aviation's highest permanent honor.

In over 120 years of powered flight, fewer than 250 individuals have ever been inducted. Sully will take his place alongside Orville and Wilbur Wright, Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh, Chuck Yeager, and Neil Armstrong.

Industry insiders call the ceremony the "Oscars of Aviation," with one major difference: it is awarded once, and it lasts forever. Once a name goes in, it never comes out.

At 75 years old, Sully has received countless accolades expressing the world's gratitude for the "Miracle on the Hudson." But while every honor since January 15, 2009, has been a thank you, this one is different. This is history permanently filing him where he belongs.

155 people got to go home that cold January day. Next month, the aviator who brought them back safely gets his own permanent place among legends. ✈️
